Will fix everything
I think a sweet tradition would be a double feature. Show the OHL game, then stream the Sabres game at the arena. Do popcorn and pajamas or something.

No one wants to see grown men in sweatpants if McDavid is playing before and the Sabres are at the bottom of the standings again.

No one.

As far as the Erie Otters are concerned this is really about them being guaranteed a wad of cash that far exceeds what they could make playing the game in their home arena. It really isn't any different than the Bills arrangement to play in Toronto. Sherry Bassin and Ted Black can spin it all they want about promoting junior hockey, but it comes down to money.

I've only been to a couple of junior hockey games - one in Ottawa and one in Quebec City. Both played to packed houses and were great experiences from both a quality of play and gameday/atmosphere standpoint.

I'm very happy to see that this game is being scheduled in Buffalo. Yes - I understand it's about money. But I don't think you have to spin it too much to get to how it promotes junior hockey.

Perhaps awareness of an OHL team 90 minutes down the road will get a few hockey fans down to Erie to see some Otters games in their home arena. Same for the IceDogs.

Perhaps those OHL fans who will travel to Buffalo will see the FNC and HC and consider coming to a Sabres game.

But for me - it's about seeing good quality hockey at a reasonable price. I really have to stretch financially to see a Sabres game. That's why I love when the Amerks play in Buffalo. It will be the same for this game as well. I'm really looking forward to it and hope this arrangement continues into the future. I'm also wondering and perhaps hoping that the Sabres are thinking about upgrading the Jr Sabres to OHL in the future and are setting the groundwork.

Junior hockey is like good college basketball--go go, rah rah, and up tempo. With several guys on those teams who will be in the NHL it is great promotion. The players will love being in an NHL rink and that pumps up the Sabres a bit. For $10 or $15 for a seat that is great value.

I know we all want this kid on the Sabres so bad. But I'm tempering any enthusiasm. While i know we could possibly have 2 picks in the lottery and that Buffalo's pick will be a high one. There's no guarantees. And i wouldn't put it passed Bettmen to do some "David Stern like shenanigans" come lottery selection day 2015. Having a marquee player like McDavid stuck on the smallest maxed out market in the league wouldn't be all that great for the NHL marketing wise.

He looks like he's been lifting pretty heavy this summer lol from past pictures/vids I've seen of him in interviews he looked a little light on the weight side, but looks like he's putting on some muscle

With all the picks, there is nothing to say Strome isn't a possible Sabre draftee next summer too.

Gary Roberts lifting camp. Has some cred.

As someone who deadlifts over 5 plates, (Trap bar is easier than standard olympic bar) I look at those legs and arms and give mad props to Gary Roberts lifting regime. He really knows how to develop insane strength and keep body fat very low. He also is able to utilize explosion into most lifts to allow his clients to get up to top speed quicker.
