When we keep losing to another good team I just look at what their GM did this summer. Our idiot did very little and decided to let the kids figure it out on their own, especially in important positions in the top 4 and top 6. You can also add dumb goalie situation.

But what did GM Caps do, his core was getting old and important players were leaving. Add solid goalie, he added two legit top 4 D, decided to take a flyer at top 6 C in PLD, who looks solid on this team, added a mid-six forward and halfway through the season brought back Eller for center depth. By the way, they added Strome a few years ago and it looks amazing and didn't cost a ton. And lo and behold, several of their young players began to progress within this core.

Compared to that, Adams just got it into his head that he was doing great and only needed to fix the bottom 6. Stupid idiot.

I find it interesting when you watch the replay of the goals you can really see how awful this team is. 4 sabres players back but by the end of the goal its a 2 on 1 in front of the net with no one covered.

Whats interesting is the fans posting here were adamant that Chychrun was garbage and no way give up Savoie. Now he is crushing it in Washington.

In hindsight I would rather have Chychrun over Byrum. Smart gm's make good moves.
There was also the benefit of Chychrun playing a lot of RD in the NHL at the time. We could have paid Savoie or Savoie+ (rumor has it) and maybe we would still have Mitts.

The game was on two of out top players sticks and neither Thompson or Tuch…..and both failed. Another reason why our top players simply aren’t good enough to carry a team.

Tuch with 0+0 in his last seven games and a little more in his last 10. What can you expect from this? When I watched the highlights of the game, I saw this moment with Tuch again, when he just shoot from a very good position into the body of the goalie. If he worked on his finishing he could be a much better player, but...

Tuch should never have been looked at as a 1st liner ... he's a middle sixer on any respectable roster. They've squeezed everything possible out of him but he's too low IQ and not skilled enough to be a 1st liner. I'd love to have him on our third line some day ... but something tells me his time here might be coming to a close soon.

I think he could still be a good second liner for us, but it's not his fault that our lineup is like this. But then again, if you look at other teams, they have similar players on both the first and second lines and they're still good. We definitely lack quality in our lineup, among other issues.

For me, Tuch is an absolute prime candidate to be traded. He seems to always leave you with wanting more and there have to be some teams out there licking their chops thinking they can get that extra out of him….and maybe they can. But like you, I feel that will be up to Tuch.

I wouldn't mind trading him, maybe even in a package deal if we can get a better player or players at the positions we need. His value will probably be highest at this TDL.

I won't get into it until he is either not on the team or he signs an extension….in which I would then admit I’m wrong, but I highly doubt Alex Tuch is going to sign an extension with the Sabres. If the Sabres lose him for nothing it will further display to me how disjointed the organization is and can’t see things happening that are right under their nose.

I have let one person on these boards know and I know and he won’t have loose lips. It will remain that way for now. Like I said, if he signs I’ll admit that I’m way off base but I don’t think I am.

Close to being another one goal loss - a late ENGA - and looking at the points/game of what was supposed to be the 2nd line... just like last year, leaning into these guys is killing them in the win column. If Quinn was even a half-point per game instead of chowing down on the pressbox buffet, that's about 4 goals over this streak where they have 6 one-goal losses, including 3 in regulation, 2 in OT and 1 shootout. Crazy that a single mildly productive player, playing to what was his previous standard, could do in this streak.

But someone put their faith in him being okay.

I question the value of a chart that suggests our two best forwards were the same pair who let Strome wander between them to be wide open 10' out for the winning goal. (Credit where due - Zucker gave Strome a perfunctory stick tap as he went by.)

Maybe I'm misinterpreting.
To be honest, I have no idea how they make these charts. But Zucker shows a negative defensive team game, while Greenway for some reason does not.

The major disconnect is the talent and skill are not willing to get dirty and grind, plain and simple. The people brought in this season to get dirty are doing it but they are not dragging the talent with them. IMHO, these 4 need to go:

Cozens
Peterka
Jokiharju
Samuelsson

They need to get a top line winger who drives the play and a partner for Power who shows him how to play. Ideally, those 4 should be able to be core pieces to get it done.

Isn't this the second time they do this?
I wonder what it's like to be so disconnected from reality as Adams and Pegula.

Is there really any value in any of those players? Cozens…overpaid. Paterka is the biggest chip there but his play is concerning. Joker is, well, a joke and Sammy is nothing more than an injury prone 3rd pairing guy on a long conyract.

For each GM there may be different values. Some are analytics fans, some just dream of building a big and tough team. Of course we should not sell anyone cheap or just for futures or smaller parts, but we can listen to offers.

Honestly I can see a team overvaluing Peterka. He’ll be a perennial 35+ goal scorer when he puts it all together
