GDT: Sabres at Predators; Feb. 8, 2025, 8:00 p.m. EST

If this organization wasn't run by morons the entire coaching staff gets sacked the second the season ends and replaced by Leone and his staff from Rochester. That guy is the real deal and I'm praying they understand this.

I am pretty sure it was his last goal... he frickin put his head down and was looking directly at the ice not watching the shot. Like he was looking to make save with his head.. he also shrunk up at same time ... the shot was far side and he wasn't close to it

The one where an unmarked guy inside the faceoff dot took a 1-timer off a pass and sniped top corner?

Not sure. I was watching Pred broadcast and I only saw replay and it was a closeup of Forsberg? and UPL only. And UPL had his head down before shot is even released

It's a scrambly play. Nashville enters the zone 3 on 3 with Sabres in decent position. Marchessault makes a move to the corner and Power swipes at the puck, and catches just enough of it to setup RoR perfectly in the slot while 2 Sabres were moving towards the corner. Once RoR has the puck he has a mini 2 on 1 and passes across to Forseberg just inside the dot. Forseberg 1 times a shot into the corner.

I actually though UPL did a great job tracking the puck on this goal. The Power deflection back to RoR was really unexpected, and there was another quick pass after that. UPL looked awkward, but got beat by a great shot. Don't think many goalies would've saved this one.

Can check out replays on NHL or ESPN

Which goal(s) do you think he should've stopped?

I don't think any of the 5 goals allowed were softies. Replace UPL with an NHL average goalie he probably gives up 4 or 5 goals in this game.

Some god awful defense from the Sabres tonight

He got beat clean on 3 of them where he didn't have to move all that much. They are high danger chances, but he really needs to get one of those. He was shrinking into his net making himself as small as possible tonight. The 2nd goal and 3rd goal were zero chance. Just felt like he didn't make a single tough save the entire game. Defense obviously needs to play better...

Not that it matters, but did anybody see an actually conclusive shot of Krebs being offsides where it would be indisputable evidence to disallow a goal? I saw the still frame of his foot way over, but I never saw the puck. I saw this from reddit, you can see the tiny blur of the puck at the bottom of the screen, it must have been really close because his toe is still on the line here:

Apparently they had a good rest before the game with Nashville, what a team, it's time to fire Adams.

Where is the puck? At this point in time it’s midair somewhere near the blue line but I can’t find it. I'm just going to assume it was obvious on the actual video replay that he was in before it crossed.

I think the rule should be changed that you have to watch the replay at game speed, and if you can't tell at game speed it's a good goal. The whole point was because they missed a guy 8 feet offsides in the playoffs that one year.

It's so fitting that this sad joke of an organization has the single worst announcer in the entire sport of hockey calling its games. Dunleavy is just absolutely awful, he is so bad that listening on the radio (something I enjoy and loved when RJ was still around) is no longer an option. The guy who does the freaking Danbury Hat Tricks FPHL games on YouTube is better than a guy calling games for an alleged NHL team, it's embarrassing. The best example tonight was saying a play was offside and the face-off would be in the Sabres zone. Two problems with this:
1) It was clearly a hand pass by a Sabres player.

2) If it was offside the face-off would NOT have been in the Sabres zone.

Everything about this organization sucks.

"Some god awful defense from the Sabres tonight"

Couldn't have said it better. We have defense men completely out of position, coasting back on odd man rushes, players who are clueless as to who their coverages are on 3 on 3 rushes, and some want to blame the goalie? (Who admittedly was not sharp tonight...)

I saw Dahlin (who had a fantastic game tonight) slump his shoulders after the failed PP late in the 3rd.

He's not going to stay in Buffalo much longer.

Yeah, I caught that dumb explanation as well....... just shook my head...

This is as good an angle as I saw on the broadcast. The nearest linesman in the next frame is waving the play on sides. He was in the best position to make the call. But the puck was airborne. Doesn't that make any video evidence inconclusive? And, the scoring play was at least 45 seconds after wards. The review is on an iPad like device and I never saw the puck and Krebs toe in the same frame.

I believe the linesmen caved.

In soccer there's a thing called a passive offside where a guy can be offside but if he isn't involved it the play it doesn't matter and the goal stands. Wish the NHL would come up with some sort of rule akin to that.
The rule should be: it's only offside if the ref decides it's offside during the play. No reviews.

One thing that makes it harder playing goalie for the sabres is that you have to be prepared for passes to open guys as well as shots. It's one thing to position yourself and focus on the shooter, another to do that + trying to adjust to numerous other threats.

Ray trying to abuse dunleavy into a more manly call as he emulates rj is rough as Rob is the only Man in the building .

I think our effeminate former goalie and his bald happy pal complete the soft friendly nature of hockey in buffalo for , a decade

I'm sure they are all great people but it's a theme .

To believe this isn't purposeful...

This is true and not UPL fault

Hey Mr Chainshot ,

sabre Mike suggests above that Leone is an actual example of a real coach already inside the organisation.. Is this true as nobody outside is coming to help this team.

I love Lindy but he may not be well enough to put this Shite show on his back despite knowing what it meant to be a sabre.and a winning culture.

( I believe we are good enough if we had two tough vet forwards like Zucker and Vet D all who covered all the children's aszes and yelled at them to listen to proper coaching and still play fast but in between the dots we wouldn't have to nuke this team)?

Mr Chain
Can you for anyone here tell us what Appert is like as an individual as well as the other assistants around the team EVERY Day

does anyone know why Ruff didn't pick his own assistants , is his control limited by Terry Pegula?

Anybody here know Tage personally or cozens ( who has an A at 23 and seems to be a punk)

Will sabres sign Zucker?

how physical is Novikov could he take samuelson role?

Metsa play up?

I know nothing.

Predators broadcast crew repeatedly mentioned how bad Buffalo is in their own zone. "They just can't play defense" was the refrain.
I wonder how much imprint the Granato years caused in this group and if you have to break them up and bring in more people who learned how to play defense in their formative NHL years.

Every goalie in the league makes saves he shouldn't, including ours on some nights. Tonight he didn't make any saves that they didn't put into the crest of his jersey.
