Sabres are open for business

You trade ROR and our center spine consists of Eichel, Reinhart????, Larsson, Girgensons??? Yeah uhh, you don't trade ROR. How many teams struggle because they have no centers? Too many.

Our center spine right now looks like 6 wins and last place. RoR hasn’t looked comfortable all year. I don’t know what happened but something happened. He’s drowning out there.

Trade Kane for futures, there’s no way I’m trading ROR for futures.

It's like people forgot how hard it is to get top 6 centers.... like this season has been so miserable that everyone forgot what it was like to have Ville Leino and Luke Adam.

There is so much wrong with this franchise.... unless you're advocating an intentional tank 2.0, and pushing our competitive window out to towards the end of Eichel's contract, then trading ROR for futures is moronic.

You want to shake things up by trading ROR? Ok... fine, but you get a bonafide NHLer in return... a proven top 6 center or top pair defensemen. Otherwise, Botts has a job to do, and it's going to take some time

We have like 5 goals outside of the Eichel line

Just a thought: are any of these guys alcoholics or something?

What the hell happened to ROR's game? Being drunk most of time would explain it; I'm not saying that is what it is but it is something like that. He has gone from a Team Canada roster spot to a piece of garbage in a few months.

The team's confidence is totally shot. They don't believe they can play well, so they don't.

It's great that we're open for business, but nobody is going to touch at least half our roster for various reasons.

Kane for futures is a no-brainer.

RoR/Reinhart for a dman if the price is right.

That's about it. Yeah maybe someone will want Pouliot or a goalie around the deadline but is that 3rd or 4th round pick we get back really gonna matter here?

And if someone "bites" on Moulson on waivers at the deadline I will personally pay for his plane ticket to wherever he's going.

At least Kane will get a nice return. Definetly more than what is expected on HF.

a leaf fan offered Marner + Liljgren for Risto... yes please lol

gives us a top winger for Eichel and we still build onto the back end, maybe Liljgren doesnt develop the offensive game Risto has but makes up for it on the defensive side.

Lou will not do that, doesn't matter what random leaf fan says..

I don't care if you get Drew Doughty or OEL for ROR ..... You trade O'Reilly and this team is worse than they are now. Neither Reinhart or Eichel can shoulder the bulk of responsibilities at Center.

It would be a disaster

And now its not a disaster with him? If we are going to rebuild again, we have to strip any non-ELC players we can get a return on.

Sure it's a disaster now. But trading him would make this team a disaster within a disaster.

I like ROR but if we are rebuilding, first thing I do is I trade him, Kane and Sam as players that we can get futures/prospects for and ensure I pick top4. After that I look at any other trades I could do to steer the rebuild...

No it wouldn't. This team is atrocious, RoR is a reason for that. Moving him does not make it worse. Can't get much worse then the bottom where they rightfully belong.

RoR hasn't earned his contract at all since he got it. Not worth 7.5 mil a year. Not a true #1 center, sure he may be a top 30 center in the league but he isn't a true franchise pivot. He's a good player not great. Not worth the money and will never lead a team anywhere. He's a supporting piece not a foundational player. If he was they wouldn't be as bad as they are. The fact is he's been on loser teams his entire career. If a team wants to trade a high end D prospect+ for him I'm all for it. He's 27 in two months. Likely 30 or damn near close to it before we sniff playoffs again. Trade him while his value is highest.

ROR is getting steamrolled. Girgensons did just as well at that role during the tank years as O'Reilly is doing now. He is a -19 through 27 games. That says everything.

It’s almost as if people forget that’s ROR carried this team on his back the past two years willing this team in games. What you’re seeing is a guy whose back is broken and is tired from playing so many minutes. You want sellers regret? That’s what you get when ROR next year goes on a tear because he’s fresh. Unless Housley is still doing the same thing.

This is one year out of his career he’s bad. I think it would be wise to bet he will bounce back next season.

If I'm Botts, I listen to offers for ROR, Reinhart and Risto... but they don't go anywhere without an overpayment coming back. I personally wouldn't look to trade defensemen with potential (Scandella, Antipin, McCabe).

Eichel is apparently off the table, fair enough... though I believe his attitude is a big problem and will continue to be a problem as long as he's "top dog" in that locker room. If we can bring in a strong locker room presence, with on ice talent to boot... great, but it'll probably cost one of those 3 up there.

Everyone else can be had for anything between market value (Kane, Girgs, Larsson) and a bag of pucks (Moulson, Okposo, Bogosian) or something in between (Beaulieu). IMO.

Pouliot, Pominville with retention, Larsson, Girgensons, Nolan, Gorges, Falk, McCabe , Josefson, Johnson and Lehner could all be in the move without batting an eye.

If a NHL locker room full of NHL vets are swayed easily from doing their job by a 20 year old Eichel's attitude, then I want nothing to do with those guys. Until it is proven that HE is the THE influence of why guys who have played at least 5 years in the league are playing with little care, then I'm not going to say he is THE problem with that room. Either way, they need to get a VET coach that will bring order and accountability to that room so that a 20 year old player can't hijack a locker room full of NHL veterans.
