This is likely the final straw to confirm Tuch is not returning. Benson at 7 means no money for Tuch unfortunately.

Benson is well worth 7, he is a top 6 player right now and 10-15 points from being a top line two way pest winger.

Amazing contract if true

7x7 for this is team friendly now?

Benson and his agent are dummies if they sign in the 7s long-term. Would be a steal for Buffalo.
Benson is boxed in by being an RFA. This is pretty good money for a 21 year old NHL player. Could be hilariously under market value for Buffalo by the end of the contract.

He needs more than 10-15 more points for that...

Dang what a great deal that would be for Buffalo, maybe the AAVs won't be as insane as we thought for guys that genuinely want to play in certain markets

Luckily for Buffalo Benson's production has been relatively modest so far even with his good season and even more impressive playoffs. I'm not sure he could demand significantly more than this on a long tearm deal.

He scored at a better rate then Slaf (before Slaf signed his deal) with much better ES defensive play and being a strong PK option and will sign for less that Juraj did… so.., yes it’s team friendly.

I fully expect Benson to be a 60 point winger next year while handling top PK duties and on PP1

Bridge contracts for good players have gone the way of the dodo.

The teams don't want them because they will likely be on the hook for a bigger contract later on, and players would rather secure an 8-year deal than risk losing millions from either declining unexpectedly or getting severely injured.

The kids ability to take a hit to make a pass, get crushed, pop back up and end up in front of the net is elite of the elite.
He plays Old school with butter smooth hands. And he just turned 21. Worth every penny of $9 mil per. 7x7 would be Amazing for us.
