Avs didn't look like scoring until the final minute of this game. 16 scoring chances is awfully generous, I don't believe that number for a second. We would have lost 1-0 if Nuke didn't get a fluke goal due to Duchene going controller disconnect. Dallas just doesn't make mistakes, while all of Avs are always self inflicted for trying too much or too hard.

We lost last year because of a 0.02% power play, we're heading that way this year as well. I have no faith, we have never beat a team like Dallas with this core and keep losing in OT. This team is mentally broken even getting the Captain back. That says a lot there if you'd ask me brethren.
You don't have to believe the numbers, but they exist for a reason. The Avs had their chances tonight. Oettinger was both great AND having an easy night because the Avs - again - fail to get bodies in front. I don't know what the excuse is because Nichushkin, Nelson, Necas, Lehkonen, Coyle, even Landeskog are all big, big boys. Yet the traffic is mostly nonexistant.

Am genuinely interested, but missed it. What did you say about nate, going on with??

My take.. there is definitely something wrong with him.. and have my thoughts too. But yours again, if you don't mind??
He’s hurt. We all know he was hurt going into the postseason but something had to have happened during game 2 because when he came out for the third he hasn’t been the same since. No explosiveness whatsoever, coasting when away from the puck, every pass looks off, and he’s flat-out refusing to shoot it more than usual.

I mean Dallas hasn’t won the cup since 1999. It’s just for some reason they’re the worst match up for us. If Stars win this series, I still don’t think they gonna win the cup

We match up well against the Oilers, but Oilers can beat the Stars, and we can never beat Dallas. It’s just weird how this match ups go
A lot of typing to say Bednar is dogshit.

No rage posting tonight.

Awful result but at least Landeskog is back and looked pretty damn good.

Goodnight, all.

Bednar and Bennett repeatedly watching lines not working and patting themselves on a job well done. Again, the only time Bednar tampered with the lines was when things were going well, and ever since then the whole team seems discombobulated. He and his buddies need to get rocketed out of here if they lose this series
IF?? The series has been lost. Everyone on the roster and in the locker room knows it.

They got their ultimate upper from Gabe's return and it didn't work. What's going to change things now?

A team playing bums like Lyubushkin, Petrovic and Ceci and Bednar can't exploit it.

Either you put the puck in the corner with Harley and punish him or force their anchors to play the puck.

But too many low percentage, cute plays instead of direct hockey. Disgusting
And DeBoner can get more out of those bums than Bedz can get out of top line players.

I question the character of this roster. If it ends the way most of us think it’s going to end…we’d better hear just HOW banged up they really were. Because no one looks healthy right now. No one.

Lehkonens dad said the team is healthy though in an interview. Of course players always have some issues, but they shouldn't be completely broken yet.

But Lehkys dad did mention Rantanen and him leaving hurt Lehky a bit because they were good friends. Maybe MacK sulking the same? Who knows.. it's absurd though. This is the best team in years. We should try to win something.

It's like rock, paper, and scissors.

Avs destroy teams like Oilers, Lightning, Wild, Kings.

Stars, Blues, and Vegas destroy Avs.

Oilers destroy Stars, Blues, and Vegas.

Drouin-MacKinnon-Nichushkin
Lehkonen-Nelson-Necas

That top-6 was rolling and building great chemistry. One of Bednar's few adjustments was to launch a warhead straight into that and kill any semblance of chemistry. I've not seen a coach want to kibosh things when they are going well, and adamantly stick to things when they aren't as consistently as I have with Bednar

Overall numbers tonight:

Shot Attempts 70-57 Avs (58-33 after the 1st period)
Shots on Goal 28-28
Scoring Chances 33-26 Avs
High Danger Chances 16-9 Avs
xGF 3.34-2.97 Avs

The Avalanche were the better team in this game, just like they were the better team in game 1 and through 40 minutes of game 2.

I still believe. I don't know why because I'm an eternal pessimist but I still for some reason believe that the numbers are telling the proper story, and that the Avs can and will beat this Dallas team.

Part of me wonders if they don't come out flying in game 4 now that the Landeskog game is out of the way and they know he can at least play normally - or as normal as one can after three years gone.

However, they HAVE TO figure out the PP. The Stars PK is not doing anything special, they are pressuring the Avs up high like crazy. Just get the f***ing puck down low and IMMEDIATELY drive to the net with the slot forward coming in for the rebound. It's not rocket science.
The numbers always look like it's close. But the Avs just never seem to be the team that comes out on top.

Other teams seem to have that it factor. Those guys who will get the job done.

The Avs never seem to have that one big play on the defensive side to stop the goal against.

If Avs lose this series, Bednar absolutely deserves to be fired. No excuses whatsoever not getting any production from the star players after all the moves CMac made giving up so much of the farm.
I agree but I’m holding the players accountable too. If we can’t beat a banged up Dallas, Bednar has to go because we did indeed go all in.

I’m just not seeing Dallas dominating other than game 2 in the third. Are we being out coached? Or is Bednars message gone stale? Maybe a bit a both.

All I can comment on is what I am seeing, and it’s absolutely sloppiness all around the ice, especially in the neutral zone. And the worst part is it’s our best player who look the worst. After the season Cale Makar just had his last 3 games are inexcusable. Are we missing our best defencemen or is Dallas?

Also, I know we have similar shots on goal but they’re mostly perimeter shots, and truly we only look dangerous off the rush. Very rarely are we sustaining pressure and cycling the puck. I swear the only line that does that is the 4th and maybe the 3rd. Whatever the issue is it needs to be rectified because now game 4 is a MUST win.

We have the players that can perform. They just preferred to lay an egg. We definitely don’t have the right coaches. PP was absolutely inept. That’s on the coach.

Sakic better call Bednar and have a fu$#king sit down with him. How can Bednar run the same crap on the PP and then never adjust during a game. DeBoer was smiling after the game 1 loss, he knows he can out coach Bednar easily.

Swap Drouin for Landeskog and we're back. He won't though because it's Bednar.

It's going to take some significant soul searching and for the team to actually pull their heads out of their asses. That "first line" seems to think their main role is to create as many interesting and high danger giveaways as possible.

At least @Vaslof and @nammerus are having a good time.

Probably true. This is what Carolina fans said. He doesn't do anything when space taken away. I guess they were right.

Either way, first try him without MacK. They go to same areas and block each other. It's so stupid. At least give Necas a chance to be his own man.

They're literally tripping over each other. It's insane that Bednar can't take a hint and separate them. It worked well in the regular season. I don't know why he decided to put them back together to start the Playoffs.
