Been watching some Preds games here and there, and I'm starting to feel like getting Seth Jones for Johansen was the steal of the decade.

The Preds in general have been out of sorts this year, so it's not really a fair comparison.

* * *
I'm not a joey guy, but didn't he have food poisoning to start the year?

Yep. He was one of several Preds so affected.

It's kind of funny - my two teams roles' have so far been reversed. Watching the Preds succumb to strange malaise and bizarre bad luck, and watching Jackets games to make me feel better. :D

* * *
Scored his first goal tonite on the power play.

You're welcome, Nashville.

Two point night, even - had a killer assist on the Josi goal. Looked tons better, as did much of the rest of the team. Hopefully they'll keep that up from here on out.

* * *
Honestly at this point it doesn't matter what Johansen does or doesn't do.

From the CBJ perspective - yep.

(But as a Preds fan as well, I still care. :) )

* * *
I love me some hockey drama as long as it doesn't involve my team. :popcorn:

:( ;)

Johansen has 1-6-7 in 14 games. 7 Blue Jackets players have more points than him.

While the Preds are struggling, this has been a major surprise for me. On the spectrum of Ryan Getzlaf to Martin Hanzal, where RyJo would land was always somewhat of a mystery.

With the motivation of a fresh camp, and working toward a huge contract, I was expecting him to come out huge. Perhaps there's even more that meets the eye here with JK's insistence to move him for value.

22 minutes of Seth Jones vs. 17 minutes of Ryan Johansen isn't looking bad at all.

He seems to have an infatuation with being a playmaker as opposed to a forceful big bodied attacker where he was most effective. Similar to another great CBJ forward. Hopefully he turns it on.

Personally I don't care one iota about what ever happens to him. I think he is headed for a very pedestrian career. We won the trade 100 times over.

With the way Wennberg and Jones are playing, we benefited from the trade. Whether Nashville also ends up benefiting I don't care.

Joey looked horrible on defense just floating around the ice against Toronto tonight. Stunned that he was only -1. Dude, what the hell?!? Get your head outta yer arse and play some hockey!

Considering that we had threads in back to back years speculating whether he had some disease (lupus?), I'm tempted to check the Predators boards to see what the diagnosis is.

^heart. Not an actual heart disease... I just don't buy him as a give his all guy. He quits on teams when he is slumping or the team is. This is the reason #1 I am so happy we ended up with Torts because it showed us this RyJo before a big deal was made and #2 He got us Jones. Last year from about game 4 or 5 I mentioned here and on FB to my friends that I specifically wanted torts amd I wanted to trade Joey for Jones and I was blown away both happened. I wish the kid the best but I feel this is who he is as a person. Some guys give you his.effort and.some guys give you that Dorsett 150% on every play effort and I don't see Johanson ever turning into an effort machine.

I'm beginning to believe that you are correct and that Jarmo-JD and the FO saw this as well. Let's go for just a second that this is the case. Then his teammates had to know this as well. ....and if his teammates knew, then other players and teams most likely knew as well. Traits such as this cannot be hidden inside one locker room or organization. People move around, scouts watch games, reporters need stories...people talk.

If this turns out to be so, nobody should ever complain about any deal Jarmo does for the next 3 years. That would mean Hartnell for Umberger; Wiznewski for Karlsson; Saad for Anisimov-Dano; and Johansen for Jones. 4 solid trades in 4 years earns props in my book.

Yeah, completely agree - I was at that game, and although he had some flashes of offense, he was mostly invisible.
Just weak, no look passes that went nowhere.

I'm tempted to point the finger at Lavi, but I dunno if that's my "I still find Tortorella somewhat disagreeable" bias finding a different target so I haven't spoken up. ;)

Didn't you ever watch House? It is never lupus although it was considered every show. :laugh:

Johanson has 2 medical issues, both very serious: he has no guts and he has no heart.

I'll refrain from piling on Joey from a personal standpoint. But, I will say that is going to be a very interesting contract negotiation this summer for Poile.

rumors leaked he intends to drop his request from 14 to 12 million/season on a 10 year deal

Good luck Preds.......
