Clowe is one tough sob. Can play with a lot of snarl. If anything he's tougher than Prust--closer to Lucic. Whether he's worth what we gave up depends on his rebounding a bit and so remains to be seen. This team if it gets to the playoffs has very little toughness and grind--he should be a big help in that regard and playoffs are all about attrition. I'm cautious about this hoping he gets back to where he was.

He's much bigger than Prust and a better fighter. The tradeoff is that Prust can skate at an NHL level, and Clowe.....not so much.

Lets say he doesn't light it up like everyone thinks he is going to, then bolts. How is that not a bad trade? Even when that extra 2nd becomes a 5th it's still a bad trade.

Kypreos saying parameters of a deal in place. If they are going to bring him in I rather keep him long term

Sharks fan here. Congrats on getting Clowe. I know he's having a down year offensively, but he's been playing injured most of the season and has been very snakebitten. He's a terrific hockey player and one of the last true power forwards in the game. He plays a lot like Lucic and is more than capable of potting 20 goals and 50+ points on a consistent basis. He's a warrior and a heart-and-soul player. Good fighter, very physical, strong playmaking skills and excellent along the boards. I think he'll become a fan favorite for you guys.

Honestly, I still don't think we know what the return was. We only have one 2nd this year - our own. So the mention of "SJ's 2nd" is confusing as hell. It's also not clear whether we're talking 2 picks plus a conditional (seems to be leaning that way) or 2 picks, the second of which is conditional. I fully expect a final price that is somewhat different than the various variations we're all bandying about to be announced more clearly once the dust has settled.

Optimistic but I like it! Hes an upgrade to whoever he's replacing and finally (hopefully) someone with size who will get dirty in front of the net.

I love this move for us, because Clowe is something we desperately need, even though he has zero goals. We have no toughness or heart on our team, and Clowe will provide that. I think we'll all embrace him and appreciate what he brings, just like we did with Prust. Obviously, he has to start producing goals though, but having him on the ice will be a positive for us. We desperately needed toughness and heart, and that is exactly what Clowe brings. I hope we can resign him for a fair deal, so this isn't just a rental.

Makes me think the Rangers have some ideas on how to recoup some draft picks, or they really don't like this upcoming draft

And Clowe might make this team better in the short run but he has trouble staying healthy and that's a pretty big reason he has slumped lately. I wouldn't be surprised to see him get hurt before the year is done

I'll give you one -- move Gaborik at the draft.

Agreed.

Players like Clowe are tough to find.

Seriously. Everyone complaining about how second round picks are uber-valuable boggles my mind, considering i'd LOVE to draft a Ryan Clowe with a second round pick.

After thinking about it this I think the deal is great. We have prospects in the pipeline (and on the team) who'll keep us young while Hank is in his prime. Clowe gives us a player who brings a ton to the team. Considering we didn't have to give up proven young talent, i'm perfectly okay with this deal.

I think it comes down to how you view Prust vs. Clowe. Prust was a solid player, but he has 9 points on the year with a track record of not putting up points. Clowe does everything Prust does, but he has a track record of scoring quite a bit more. I would probably chose this deal over keeping Prust but it would be clo(we)se.

I like Clowe, really do. But all this says to me is we should have kept Brandon Prust. To me, it gets clearer with each game what we're missing with out Pruster in the line up.

it puts everything in prospective when your trading for grit with a little offensive ability..

we had one hes called Dubi.. but honestly so true should of just antied up..

we paid pyatt 1.5, halpern 700k, asham 1m rupp 1.5 should of just signed him traded rupp before the season and would have evened out.. oh well... iam happy with clowe, bc everyone on these boards were begging for slats to trade dubi for him.. now we have him so hopefully he runs **** and be his last stop of his career and be here long term.. if he proves his worth.. bc its what we need badly!!

Specific return to #SJSharks when it happens: NYR 2nd-round pick (45th right now) and 3rd-round pick NYR have from FLA (61st right now)....

Plus NYR 2014 2nd-round pick if Clowe re-signs or they win 2 playoff rounds. If neither happens, #SJSharks gets 5th round pick.

Sigh. Not as bad as three 2nds, but more than I wanted to pay for sure.

if he can become the player he was a few years ago this is a great trade. but for his production to drop so dramatically and for sj to sour on him is very disconcerting.
