Hate what we gave up for him. Just hate it. Too much for a player with injury concerns and no guarantee we can retain him. Even if those picks are replenished by moving Gaborik @ the draft.

via Brodie Brazil of CSN Bay Area tweeted this quote from Doug Wilson “One thing ryane clowe taught all the guys… you be there for me, I’ll be there for youâ€

On Clowe, Doug Wilson said on a conference call that Clowe is “feared, respected and a tremendous heart-and-soul competitor.â€

Who needs that...

For a team as soft as we have become...he is the perfect player...he can take a regular shift and scare the **** out of 90% of the players in the league.

Price is steep but he is a rare commodity.

Gabby will be traded in the off season and we will re coup at least a 1st +

If Rangers make moves tomorrow and try to add more picks than I will be okay with it, but I'm definitely not happy that the Rangers currently don't have a 1st or 2nd. They have 2 or 3 3rd rounders left?

If Boyle/Pyatt is moved for a 3rd rounder I'll be okay with it.

It actually is, because it's a very, very small sample size compared to a very, very large one.

8 seasons in the leauge, put up some decent numbers before this season. A doughnot for the current season is not a great sign of things to come. Clowe kind of reminds me of Higgins when he got here. Did everything well execpt score.

If Clowe resigns for reasonable $'s this is a solid deal. Something like 3yr/9m then this is a decent deal and I can possibly stomach losing 2 2nd's and a 3rd. Unfortunately he won't sign that cheap. If we don't resign him, a 2nd, 3rd, and 5th for 13 games and maybe a round in the playoffs sucks. There is no doubt though that he brings an element this team sorely needs.

The picks are a non-issue. Gaborik and either or both of Boyle and Pyatt will probably be traded (most likely after this season) for picks + roster depth. My issue is what kind of extension we'd be giving Clowe.

The more I read the posts in this thread the more I think a lot of you just need something to ***** about. From all indications, Clowe wants to be resigned by the team that he was traded to. He's a warrior, a scorer, a great teammate, plays eighteen minutes a night and is something the Rangers have been clearly missing and you all are *****ing about 2nd and 3rd round picks? Yeesh.

We can certainly get some of that back, and more, if we trade Gaborik at next years deadline if we aren't in it.

But the chances one player changes the whole mindset of this team? I don't know. I won't be holding my breath. My guess is he comes here and does nothing. He can bring grit and thats great, but we need to get into the playoffs first (where I think if he is going to be good thats where) and that can only happen if Richards/Gabby start going.

I want some grit and toughness on this team as much as anyone. But I am not so sure Ryan Clowe will solve all those problems.

Have to start somewhere. Asham needs to play. Clowe will help.

The way we've been drafting, and the amount of talent spread throughout this draft, yea, some of us disagree with the trade. Especially when you consider Clowe might get a stupid offer or two this summer and make it impossible for us to retain him.

Like the player, and I'm willing to move picks like a 2nd and a 3rd, but not for someone like Clowe. This specific trade just has me feeling like we're moving valuable assets for nothing.

On a team that has no toughness...no one man can cure that...but he is one of the meanest guys in the league who can actually play...only time will tell what he will accomplish.

If we can now get a mean sob as our six dman...then we will be on to something.

I would have liked Davis Drewskie for a 5th but Habs beat us to that.

have no problems with this trade. None whatsoever,.

Clowe is better than the year he has been having. I am confident of that.

Big bodied player that knows how to play with much more talented players.

Good trade for the Rangers.

And when they re-sign him?

I'd agree with that if it weren't reported that he wants to resign with the team he's traded to and he clearly had a choice in the destination. I wouldn't look that far ahead yet, if I were you.
