Clean hit,Clean hit, Nurse had his head down and exposed himself, worst of it came when his head was cut by his visor and head hitting the ice. Reavo is a tank.
Now process all of those thoughts in the milliseconds it takes for the event to happen.Let's for the sake of argument run with that statement.
Reaves sees Nurse, see that oh Nurse got his head down and thinks to himself...*but its okay, I'm coming shoulder height, he will get up to normal position...oh no he isn't...well let's ram him in the head...booyah! I got no responsibility for my actions as long as I can claim I thought he would raise himself up and committed to the hit already*
Fantastic argument for a "clean hit"!
I'm sorry but this didn't take milliseconds, Reaves even though not the greatest of players have been in the NHL for 15 years and is used to the speed of the game. More so than any of the fans. Now process all of those thoughts in the milliseconds it takes for the event to happen.
Yes I know that. My point is, if they had 5 in their mind to begin with, they would have likely just made it an in person hearing to increase it to 6+ if some new information changed their original thought. People have gotten in person hearings and only 5 games before.6 or more is in game hearing. So probably 5,
Reaves is just a plug. I’m not going to defend him but let’s not act like he went out of his to kill the guy. Everything is from Nurse not being aware of his surroundings. What’s the old saying “keep your head up” like I said if Nurse is looking up Reaves hits him in the chest. Reaves should also be more aware and recognize a vulnerable playerLet's for the sake of argument run with that statement.

Both were in the wrong but the hit is so much worse caused by Nurse’s own idiocy.Imo Reeves takes responsibility here. Hes a very awkward player who has little to no skill. A player with body awareness and skill would make shoulder to shoulder contact. Nurse still might hit his head on the ice, considering the force of impact and he didn’t have his helmet cinched properly, but the initial contact would not have been to the head.
Yes Reaves is by far the sharpest tool in the shed. Of course Nurse should have kept his head up. But, players are responsible for being in a position to make a legit legal hit, not just the recipient. If he was such, he would have hit him in the chest and not the head. Then its up to Reaves to either not make the hit or adjust himself if possible to make the hit in a legal matter.Reaves is just a plug. So you’ll call that a clean hit, when Matthew’s take a shot in the head like that.Clean hit, Nurse had his head down and exposed himself, worst of it came when his head was cut by his visor and head hitting the ice. Reavo is a tank.
Would we see Matthews take a hit like that though? It’s highly unlikely Matthews puts himself into that position. He would see Reeves because he’d have his head up and read the play.So you’ll call that a clean hit, when Matthew’s take a shot in the head like that.
Suspension should be, Reaves has to play 30 minutes a night for 6 games.
Technically, Reaves suspension history number is zero. They clear out your history after 18 months. Dumb rule if you ask me, but it is the reality. 3-4 games now seems likely as well, given it isn't in person. On one hand it was a hockey play in the sense that Reaves was pursuing the puck on the forecheck even making an attempt on it before following through with the hit.
On the other he carelessly following through on a hit of an opponent in a vulnerable position and it was a clear headshot that could have ended up really bad.
Getting tossed from the game should take a game out of the suspension but Reaves has been suspended a few times already.
My guess is 3-4 games
Agreed, cowardly of them to not fight Reaves after the hit. When somebody does that to one of your comrades, you must defend your fallen soldier. Oilers didn’t want anything to do with that, shows what kind of team they are!
Why would Nurse get a game?f***ing plug who's awful at hockey, maybe the worst player in the league, trying to get his spotlight for the season. Dirty af but I'm sure his pal in DoPs will give him just a game.
That's not how suspension history works. It only affects the salary forfeit.Technically, Reaves suspension history number is zero. They clear out your history after 18 months. Dumb rule if you ask me, but it is the reality. 3-4 games now seems likely as well, given it isn't in person.
What is a "Repeat Offender"?
A Player is considered a repeat offender for 18 months following his most recent incident that resulted in a suspension. His status as a repeat offender in this category is used to determine the amount of salary forfeited should he receive another suspension.
It is important to note that even if a Player is not defined as a repeat offender, his past history may come into consideration when determining future Supplemental Discipline.
Because playing Reaves hurts leafs more, than a suspension. A suspension is better outcome for the leafs. How so? Toronto is the biggest and best hockey market in the world. World class city as well.

105 games
Actually hitting his body would be a good start?I honestly don't see what is really wrong with this kinda hit... Its unfortunate outcome, and there is definitely head contact, but Nurse is just looking down goin around the net and leaning forward. What is Reaves suppose to do if he wants to lay the body there? Just pull up and not because Nurse is skating around the net with his head down? Fast pace game, will always be situations like his that walk a fine line that can turn it to go either way.
He'll get suspended though for sure.
Poor edmonton down to just 2 NHL defence men now.
I think he gets the max: 5 games
Agreed. Reeves is an awkward player. His very limited skill cause him to be dangerous. Really players of his limited skill don’t have purpose in the league anymore.Reaves had Nurse lined up and Nurse put himself in a vulnerable position. Obviously you cant make that much head contact in todays nhl and get away with it (5 min major appropriate) but I dont think the hit was 'dirty' on Reaves part.
