Big and dynamic kid skating like the wind, more I watch Poehling play, more Its becoming obvious he has second line center wrote all over him...

He seems to be playing with a lot more pace of late if I'm not mistaken. He's making plays at high speed which is nice. Even if the points aren't quite there this year (I would've liked to have seen more, especially goals, but there's still time) I think I see a progression in his game. WTK's concern about his lack of shot is valid but I don't know to what degree. He plays a man's game which might offset the lack of shot.

I'm still not pencilling him in the top 6. At least a contending team's top 6 is still hard to say for me. He does look to have the floor of a sh*t hot 3rd line C that you can go on a good playoff run with. With our winger depth I'd be fine with him as our 3rd line C.

Those are some seriously translatable plays he's making.

He's a solid prospect. It's nice having a deep prospect pool for a change.

His passing is really impressive. If he was any more skilled and could score more goals I'd be losing my mind over him.

Cap space is the only category in which the Habs are elite.

Bergevin better try and add talent this off season.
It just dawned on me maybe this cap space is a demand from ownership to pay for Michel Therrien to lay out in the sun on some sunny beach.

Danault-Poehling-Armia would be an absolute pain in the ass to play against.
Although I kinda agree, I’m not a big fan of moving Danault to the wing. He’s a faceoff beast, amongst other thing.

But yeah, he could be a very good mentor on the same line of a projected very good middle 6C

Danault can still take the faceoffs. They can move either Danault and Poehling to wing or Center. Good problems to have.

We currently have Chaput at center. We can have all four of Domi, Poehling, Kotkaniemi, Danault all at center. No problem.

Who's playing 4th line center? Personally, I rather move Domi to wing when Poehling is ready to take a middle 2C spot. Makes our top 9 even more stronger but that depends on how good Poehling ends up.

These types of things will sort themselves out. For the time being you can have Poehling on the “4th line” playing with Suzuki, Danault as your defensive matchup center, and Domi and Kotkaniemi as your top centers (assuming KK continues to progress). I could see something like
Drouin-Kotkaniemi-Gallagher
Tatar-Domi-Lehkonen
Byron-Danault-Armia
McCarron-Poehling-Suzuki

Lots of options, no doubt about it. This forward group (current and coming prospects) are very solid. Lacks superstar talent but the depth and quality is there. I see a few people put Armia with Danault and I 100% agree. At some point, that would be my plan and talk about a shutdown 3rd line!

At some point down the road...
Tatar / Kotkaniemi / Suzuki
Drouin / Domi / Gallagher
Poehling / Danault / Armia
Lehkonen / Shaw / Byron

That's like two #2 lines and two #3 lines. Roll them and they will be hard to contain. Shut down one line and the other 3 burn you. You could move Poehling to the 4th listed line as well. On any given night, you can give one line extra minutes depending on how well they are playing.

Lehkonen / Danault / Armia
Byron / Poehling / Shaw

CJ will love Poehling for sure. We could be looking at Poehling, Evans, McCarron, Chaput all fighting for that 4th line center spot at camp in the fall.
I'd prefer Poehling because he looks as though he understands the game, although he belongs higher than the fourth line.

would not be shocked at all if he's the 4th line center next year, although I really hope Suzuki is in the AHL, I want to see what a year with Bouchard can do for him and his game. I could see McCarron needing more time in the AHL if he misses most of this year.

Poehling with 5 pts and 2 goals in his last two games against Miami. 2 of his 3 assists were primary assists too.

Feb 1st game... Poehling scores and assisted by Poehling and Poehling. Wonder if this is a record in any sports league? All 3 brothers in on one goal? I'm sure this is not the first time the Poehling brothers did it this year or the two years prior?

There's bound to have been a Sutter from Sutter and Sutter goal or two somewhere.

Poehling's St. Cloud State team is on CBS Sports Network tonight for a nationally televised game against Colorado College. Not sure if any Canadian network will pick it up.
