Proposal: Ryan Lindgren to the Senators

so a cap dump who is a LD (the last position ottawa needs) for a solid center prospect and JBD

that makes a lot of sense....
 
Would make for a very tight cap for the Sens while not really solving any issues. Greig is too high of a price to pay.

I'd be interested in Smith... and Schneider.

You can have Smith for whatever you think is fair. You can't have Schneider for what the OP asked for

I was kinda kidding about Schneider. He would be a really nice addition, but a luxury and we arent at a point where that can be our main focus.

Cousins + two 3rds for Smith and a 4th?

I think Lindgren makes a certain level of sense for Ottawa, but not for Greig. Maybe JBD + Amadio or something along those lines. Closer to money in/money out. Rangers add a cup winner under contract and Ottawa adds someone who can hopefully be more reliable on their back end/bottom pair than Hamonic/JBD have been.

I think if Ottawa is trading Grieg to the Rangers it's with a small "+" for Kakko.

How is Lindgren a cap dump?

He plays top line minutes on a ECF team and has been consistently a solid stay at home dman.

He has really struggled this year due to injuries and he was rushed back, but that does not remove the fact he is a solid top 4 dman.

Yeah he used to be somewhat solid but now he is terrible, we will see if he recovers but if he is that great maybe just pay the man? Don't see anyone paying to do that, maybe you will find someone who will take a chance to use him as a rental

Lindgren looks absolutely horrific out there this year. If injuries are affecting him that badly, he should probably get whatever surgery he needs now.
 
Norris+JBD for Lindgren+Kreider as a base. Rangers or a third party team retains on Lindgren for a 4th to make it cap in/cap out.

Whether there are future on one side or the other I won't guess the value of. Mainly just guessing a base that makes sense when taking into account the contracts and needs.

Eh, that's a pretty big gamble for the Rangers to take on in Norris. Not to mention the roster shuffling that would need to occur with Trocheck, Chytil, and Zibanejad down the middle already. I think Norris is really talented and could be good add if he can stay healthy but that's a hard sell at damn near $8M per year and a bionic shoulder.

Could see JBD being in a Lindgren trade if the Rangers had a taker for Trouba. Can ride out the season behind Schneider and Fox so Mancini can hang in the AHL and be that stop-gap until he's ready. Or even build up enough value he's a value add in another deal.

Not singling you out here but I'm not sure why folks see Kreider as a guy we'd be lucky to get rid of. He's a power forward who is arguably the best net-front player in the league. He has averaged well over 35 goals the last 3 seasons, plays in all situations, and is under team control for two more years after this. Sure, he's had a down year this year but that makes him like pretty much every other Ranger who is sulking around MSG. Even at full rate he's great value. Let alone if the Rangers eat some of his deal.

Amazing how being poor for 20 games erases the entire fact he was a solid top 4 dman playing top line minutes for the last 5/6 years.
