It's the kind of mentality they're trying to get rid of. I'm not defending Bieksa's POV just trying to explain why he said what he did.
Yeah I didn’t hear the postgame just the intermission remarks by Bieksa. Apparently he backtracked a bit afterwards on blaming Hamonic.

Didn’t matthews hurt his shoulder carrying his purse and had to go to Germany to see a specialist?
I don’t know what he hurt or how he hurt it - my guess is he got hurt when he and McAvoy got tangled up in the playoffs- yes he went to Germany for something.

Rats are considered rats for a reason...because they're willing to go over lines and do shit most people wouldn't consider. Some bite fingers, some push players heads into the ice. No one is saying it should be part of the game or defending it.

That’s the point, they NHL wants guys like Stutzle, Panarin, Marner, etc, so you have govern your actions accordingly. That guy is known for being weak on his skates so you have to ease up. It is what it is and is only getting worse.

Yes, you should definitely ease up on pile driving guy faces into the ice unexpectedly.
…..which of course has nothing to do with anyone being weak in their skates.

The only thing getting worse here are your posts.

So am I. No one needs to fight Hartman because he asks. If Foligno or Hartman wants a fight why don’t they make a hockey play like a big body check or something?
For one thing, you shouldn't have to fight after a big, clean bodycheck. That's one of my bigger pet peeves. Also, if you're going around hunting for that, it can turn bad very quickly too.

I'm just saying that I see it all the time. Team is flat, shit-disturbers disturb some shit looking for a scuffle. That was the rough/slash/dive sequence. Somebody could've dealt with him after that, but I don't think they foresaw him elevating it to the resulting dumbass-iness.

It's the old school hockey mentality. Bieksa had to be the Hamonic role more than a few times and it's his default understanding of how these things work. Op's pest starts shit and if no one does anything about it soon your skill guys are getting hammered.

yea sure they get hammered, not whatever the f*** hartman did.

if he had gotten Stutzle hard with an NHL play he would have gotten his wish and someone would come after him. instead he did that.

this didn't happen because Hamonic didn't want to fight Hartman.

It happened because Hartman is a nutjob.

Minnesota TV Play by Play was calling it “losing his balance”
Lapanta and the cycle of color guys the Wild use are well-known homers. Two of the color guys (Ryan Carter and Wes Walz) played for the Wild, and Lou Nanne was the GM of the North Stars. For Christ's sake, Walz still calls the Wild "we". I'm not shocked they didn't have the clarity to call it what it was, especially if it was before replays. Lapanta will sometimes admonish a Wild player on the air for something stupid they did, but usually it's on replay when he gets a truly good look at it. The trouble with being a play-by-play guy is that it's your job to say something about it as it's happening, before having all the facts, so I have a hard time blaming play-by-play guys, definitely moreso than color commentators.

I don't think this strays too far from what every single other broadcast group in the NHL does.

This Wild fan is fine with him being suspended for mega games.

Apparently Hartman was pissed for for getting an embellishment call earlier on a slash to the hands(that was called a penalty). I never understood how someone can get a diving penalty on an actual infraction, but that's a side issue.

Throw the book at him. He's playing like crap this year, anyway.

Because diving and embellishment aren’t the same penalty.

That was a very premeditated sociopath move. He knew exactly what he was doing and gave no f***s.

I agree with silky.. mandate the Wild have to play him 20 minutes a night (or more) or healthy scratch him.

We'll never see him again.

Hope Stutzl is okay.. he's a fabulous player.

Not talking about the end of it, talking about the lead up.
Yep, I’ve seen it, and I’ve also seen what Bieksa said, that he also understands why you turn it down at 3-0.

How often a year is an intent to injure penalty called, not often I’d reckon.

That is exactly what Bieksa was implying Hamonic should have done. The take makes no sense.
Yeah, Bieksa has some good takes sometimes but that was moronic. Even if you support fighting and the "code" in the NHL:

1. No one is ever required to fight for no reason. There's enough data on head injuries that everyone knows it's not good for anyone long term. If players want to fight- so be it, but no one needs a reason to not want to.

2. It's a 3-0 game. A fight can do nothing for Ottawa and only give Minnesota a spark. Giving Hartman a fight would be stupid.

3. If fighting someone on the other team is the only way to prevent someone on the other team from trying to injure your team's star player then that's a problem that the league needs to address ASAP.

I don't tink it was pre
its not just that it was dirty.

it was clearly pre intent. he was running around like a lunatic
I think it was more of the stupid reaction to his hand being slashed on the faceoff drop. (at least that's what it looked like from the clip). I don't know if we went into that faceoff thinking I'm going to do something stupid. Either way, this was something stupid.
