Great player, miss him in Tampa

Palat is showing some wear and tear in NJ, but he has been very good most of the year. And he has shown many instances of why he was signed to be a key player. Underrated in NJ, and fears of that contract are overblown.

I was definitely hoping for more and he is probably winding down a bit. Everytime I look they have him playing with good to great players. It's a good team and a good situation for him. 1 more year at 6M is not that bad though and, at the very worst, can get some assets for him at next years TDL. I'm obviously hoping for an extension (for less) before that happens as I like him in NJ.

In for the Palat love.
I too miss him with the Lightning, and felt he never was given the full credit he deserved for being a bigger part of that juggernaut TB engine.

I know he was outshined by many on those Lightning squads, and he never had the sexy numbers of a Stamkos, Point, or Kucherov, but I feel the man and his style of play helped make it POSSIBLE for those great players to put up the ridiculous numbers they did.....and many times by taking heat off them by contributing to teams spreading their coverage thin.

He always did, and continues to do, the 'dirty work', and if teams don't respect him and leave him either uncovered or with minimal coverage, he'd make them pay.

And playoff performer? You bet.
Look up "Playoff Clutch" and you are likely to see a picture of this man.

I'm not a Devils fan at all, but if there was a reason for me to hope they can capture the Cup, it would be to see this man raise it one more time!

Not bad for a 7th round pick, eh?

But I bet he WOULD play center, on any line, not complain, and do decently there too, if asked!

I think he'll have a Plekanec like NHL ending. Different positions but similar type guys.
