...so it was a wrestling work with fake blood??... :dunno:
Nah. Hartsy wanted to push Stützle down, Stützle wanted to dive. Both combined their forces and the movement going into the same direction led to the hard impact.
Unfortunate for both but luckily not with any serious results.
The Sens would‘ve won either way and Hartman for sure needs to rest.

Dumb choice that he sits for. I don’t think he meant for the result though. He was shoving him down and was making sure he got down. He assumed he wasn’t going to end up putting him face first in the ice and was wrong so he sits.

its not just that it was dirty.

it was clearly pre intent. he was running around like a lunatic
I will caveat this with I did not watch the game however…

It seems it could pre meditated given that only 6 minutes earlier, Stu had a 2 for slashing, and Hartman had 2 for roughing and 2 for embellishment.

I know I'm going to sound ridiculous to some, but they need to really throw the whole book at him.

You can't penalize this too lightly. The man legitimately pressed his weight straight onto his opponent's head/neck with force and intent.

A 5 game or less suspension may encourage other lowlife goons to do this to other stars as a last resort.

The league should be starting this suspension with a two digit number starting with a 2, minimum.

We do not want to see another Moore.

Suspended twice last season and fined once.
Suspended once in 2023 and fined once.

Pretty much been fined at least once going all the way back to 2021. He'd probably have that streak dating all the way back to 2017 if not for a couple of shortened seasons.

Just give him the rest of the season off. It really doesn't hurt Minny since he looks like he forgot how to play hockey this season anyways.

Hartman is actually smaller I thought but more facetious than sarcastic

i mean the whole Tkachuk family dodges bigger fighters so that's not exactly a tactic unique to Hartman.
Matt maybe but Brady?
he's also skated away from larger fighters. Hartman, i'm positive, has fought someone larger than himself and I'd never try pretending he wasn't a spot picking shit.

That's not called dodging. It's called listening to the pleas of his coaching staff.

Not alot of big fighters in the NHL that have a symmetrical trade off for a 5 min penalty with Brady.

In any other sports league this kind of play would have Hartman suspended for the rest of the season. I have no idea why the NHL is like this.

Agree. I have defended many players, home and away, for shit that happens at high speed. People generally don't understand how fast the game is and many knees, elbows, late/high hits and hits from behind are actually the product of a fast physical game.

That being said, this is not a hockey play, it's just plain assault. He should get 41 games and 82 for the next "clear intent to injure" suspension. Especially considering his repeat offenders status.

Losing 10-20% of his career earning might actually keep a mouth breather like this in check.

Accidents are accidents. Hockey is fast you're right. But this was 100% premeditated and intentional.

I love Hockey for it's toughness but this shit's worse than a sucker punch.

This was a dangerous move, which could have had life altering consequences.
If he was on my team I would want him gone for good.
The NHL and the NHLPA have to be united in condemning Hartman.
Every one loves a clean check but literally nobody wants this kind of stuff in the NHL

End his season. 30 games. That’s completely inexcusable with zero hockey reason. This shit has no place in the game and the fact that the league lets this shit happen is part of why hockey is a C tier sport in North America
I agree that this is terrible, but it probably has no negative effect on popularity. People love violence, and they love having villains. It's hard to admit, but it's true.

Hartman is one of the biggest POS to play in the NHL in the last 20 years.

This should result in a lonnng suspension, but knowing the NHL, he'll get a $1500 fine.

man I hope you are wrong on this one.

Agreed.

This wasn't a "hockey play" that went wrong. This was guy whos team laid an egg and he got pissed and was running around the whole period. He got his chance and took it.

I don't know which one pisses me off more. The act itself or him smiling and shaking his head like he had no clue why he got a penalty.

I hope they throw the book at this guy.
