Doing some quick math, missing 10 games is 12.1% of the season, 12.1% of Hartman's $4M salary is $487k. I know NHL salaries are way more complicated than that and that the actual monetary penalty to him is much less than that. But it's still gotta hurt more than those pitiful $5k fines that DOPS likes to throw around. Plus if tries to FAFO within the year, he'll probably get slapped with a Raffi Torres like suspension.

Jt miller
4 game suspension
Crushed the back of his neck
Easily worse
So not like this at all, as I thought.

Hartman here did a slewfoot and drove the head to the ice with his body, Byfuglien cross checked. "Easily worse," shrug. That one's more comparable to stuff like the Myers or McDavid cross checks.

What the hell are you even talking about?

The discussion was about breaking a players neck, both are driving a player in the prone position to the back of the neck

One with a stick the other with a forarm

Why are you acting like I'm the one who makes the rules? Ask the NHL why they made it a rule. What even are you trying to prove? The dude got fined for doing something the NHL doesn't allow. The constitution is completely irrelevant in this scenario.

Could've and should've said "who cares" to your dumbass post about your constitutional rights that are not the same as what your employer allows.

Who cares?

Union needs to be given, and accept, some of the blame here. The fine amounts would be negotiated as part of the CBA. I think the more equitable solution for fines issued without suspension would % of salary.

How about Jamie Benn cross checking the back of Larkin's neck during a faceoff. Larkin had his season ended and needed surgery. The league didn't do @#$%& about it either. Benn is another POS who likes to cross check defenseless players any chance he gets.

What an idiot. Hope the next one's 20 games, since he just can't seem to figure it out.

Nice to see the league offer more than a mere slap on the wrist for once.

No it was pathetic to push Bouchard intentionally into the metal net. Jockeying for pucks with physicality is fine. Hartman hits players all the time, which is fine, but it proves he is an expert at the timing of hits and the aftermath. He also has a history as a dirty player. He knew what he was doing. This is not unlike Cooke who had a lot of plays like that. "Whoops! How'd that happen? What bad luck"
It’s pathetic that you are lumping that play in with actual dirty plays. Bouchard should go play soccer if he’s that soft.

I’ve got no problem saying Hartman is dirty, but let’s talk about plays that are actually dirty.

10 games is right based on how the NHL/NHLPA have structured suspensions. However for me I’d start at 20 without any history and go from there.

So many dangerous dumbass plays get fines or 1-2 games based on no desire to prevent serious injury… it’s just optics.

Oh and those that think fighting ‘polices’ the game. The next time Hartman plays Ottawa he will ‘answer the bell’ and then he won’t care he had to fight. It won’t stop him doing dumb stuff.

The only thing that might modify his behaviour is the suspension length and lost money.

15 would have been appropriate. Afraid the ten might go down.

He’s a bit psychotic. I’m not sure it makes him a bad person like some people are saying but there’s no room for someone with his mentality out there putting people in danger.

Also put me in the boat of him not caring about having to answer for it. Probably looking forward to it.
