Edmonton need their Fernando Pisani. What kind of draft pick would Chicago need in return? Matvey Petrov could be in play if necessary
Agreed. We already have a better version named Jeff Skinner.

And some GM is going to take the bait hook line and sinker. The problem is, some people see the points and do not equate that to the fact he would not get the same time on ice with the. oilers.
But more over, I believe a pump and dump is currently in affect. Hawks are spoon feeding him minutes over the last 4 games where he has 3 goals and 5 minutes, playing an average of about 3 to 4 minutes a game more then usual. Against the Preds he played nearly 20 minutes. 5 minutes more than his January average, 4 minutes above his December average, 3 minutes about his November average and 7 minutes about his October average.
He is he is being put on display for a trade and they hawks are trying to move him
Probably a really foolish one like Stan BowmanAnd some GM is going to take the bait hook line and sinker.

Oilers have about 10 3rd liners. He wouldn't be coming to Edmonton to play in the top 6 unless depth was needed. Why not let him play on the 3rd line?
I don't think that's the right type of criticism/skepticism. After tonight, Donato's 5 on 5 Points per 60 (with a min. 30 GP filter that I arbitrarily selected) is 39th in NHL.The problem is, some people see the points and do not equate that to the fact he would not get the same time on ice with the. oilers.
I just don’t see the point in moving him for a 2nd/3rd. (And that’s probably his value right now)
Hawks have plenty of those. I’d try to extend him.
Of course if he doesn’t want to stay I suppose you have to move him. He’s having a great year, that’s for sure.
While I agree in a vacuum. NHL GMs are on another level of dumb at the trade deadline and in UFA signings. 10 teams make deadline trades every year and 90% don't turn out.Not getting a 1 for Donato
It's simple: He's having a career year, Hawks won't pay what he's worth so you trade him. Let another sucker pay the guy.I just don’t see the point in moving him for a 2nd/3rd. (And that’s probably his value right now)

Why both? Why that order?I would think Edmonton would trade for another d man then a forward.
If the Oilers aren’t able to land a sure fire top 6 RW or 2nd pair dman, I’d rather they just stand pat unless they are getting a huge bargain in a depth guy or two. Assuming Kane can come back healthy and ready to play, he’s you top 6 guy.
Kane-McDavid-Hyman
Arvidsson-Draisaitl-Perry
Skinner-Nuge-Podkolzin
Janmark-Henrique-Kapanen/Brown
I also would be OK with paying a decent price for another proven starting goalie… like a John Gibson.
I certainly don’t want to pay a steep price for a guy like Donato, who shouldn’t crack our top 6.
