After having some struggles in the series against the habs and at the start of rangers series he came around really well towards the end of that series as well as in the SCF where he lead the team in points (among forward) and were tied in points with Hedman (Hawks also had a few players with 4 points so no one had more) so a lot of creadit to him and his linemates for helping us win those two games. I though he was having an overall good SCF and you could tell he really wanted to win because he played the kind of sacrifiecing game that the hawks played and did it well, hopefully his play will keep it up next season and if we make it to the playoffs again that this was the Cally we will keep seeing.

Yeah good points he was not 100 percent . Think he should of even sat out those first 4 or 5 games against the Rangers but try telling him that.

He ended up with 4 points in 6 games ( 1 goal, 3 assists, assisted on 2 GW goals) in the SCF while skating with 4th liners and limited mins and shifts , that to me is more impressive. He was doing everything shutting down Toews and Kane, hitting, creating offense and showing up on the scoresheet.

Very happy with his performance considering what he went through. Only regrets, Wanted him to score more points In the playoffs but was very difficult skating after a surgery and getting limited mins with an incomplete 3rd line that took some time to find chemistry.

I was surprised how well he and that whole line did. Wonder if that means he could find significant success on the 3rd line next year after benefiting from so much top 6 time this season. Maybe Stamkos can move back to center with Killorn and Drouin, and reunite Cally and Flip with Brown to play the "K" role in the KFC line?

Should not be too surprised. He has the skill set of a top 6 forward with a 3rd line checking/grinding style of play. His entire career he has bounced up and down from the top 6 and 3rd line because of his versatility to play multiple roles. Him and that 3rd line gave us a chance in the SCF series to win, but the top line could not make up for the banged up TKO line and we fell short.

I do hope he finds his way back in the top 6 next season and think he will. Would love to see a line of Drouin - Stamkos - Callahan, but would also not mind seeing a KFC line, think that would be a great line on both ends of the ice. So many options here, and this is a good thing.

Callahan is your captain. Plays like one, talks like one, leads like one. Steven who?

I was disappointed in his play in the first two rounds before the surgery but he really found his game late in the Rangers series and in the final. That's the guy I thought we'd get all playoffs. He found some chemistry with Brown and Ced, probably not a permanent line next year but one we see occasionally.

This. If Paquette and Brown are on your best line, something must have gone wrong, really wrong

Well considering there was a top 6 forward on that line who is a 25ish goal scorer and who was playing some of his best hockey had something to do with that line coming alive. I give a lot of credit also to Brown and Paquette but they still were limited to what they can do. 7 points between that line in the series So yeah not good enough to win a cup. They kept us in this series but we needed the Stamkos line to score more or not give up a goal after they score, since the TKO line was hurting. 4th line was just warm bodies eating up mins.

In a lot of ways, it did come down to a failure by Stamkos to produce. TKO was not TKO anymore, but they were still drawing the heavy D match ups. It was an opportunity for Stamkos to shine. He almost did, but he didn't. I still put a hefty amount of blame on Cooper for not adjusting to the fact that TKO was so limited, but, all the same, had Stamkos produced, we might have had a game tonight.

I think Paquette and Brown are still improving as players. Brown proved he can be useful on a quasi-scoring line and Paquette improved the more confident he got. I think next year will be sort of like an audition for both of those guys, to determine what role, if any, they'll play in the future of this team.

I think Stamkos looked good at times but not good enough. Too many ups and downs , imo. My only complaint , I wanted to see coop use the 3rd line more they earned more shifts, think they could of scored even more if given the chances. But what's done is done still happy with this team for getting this far and cannot wait for October!

Stammer looked good at times? Who did you look at? Didn't even see him to make a judgement.

Cally looked good with Paq and Brown. It was arguably the only good line we had in the finals. It will be interesting to see if he makes it back up to the "1st" line with Stamkos and who ever else, or if KFC gets put together.

I think he will, well hope he will after his finals performance, but if not, hope he can at least be with Flip and Killorn on the 3rd line and not just 4th liners. Cally had to go into super beast mode to get that line going and if he was skating with guys like Flip and Killorn in that mode that line would of scored even more, imo.

As per wanting him back on the top line, still want to see that Drouin - Stamkos - Callahan line, we've only seen a few games of it, and not only have they looked really good, they have produced as well. Coop will and should give him the opportunity back into the top 6.

I was watching some old 'HIMYM' episodes and saw that a picture of Cally can be seen in the background in one scene, now it's very old since he isn't just wearing a rangers uniform but also wearing an 'A' on the chest but still though it was fun.

Namestnikov isn't good enough to make another triplet line.

I wish we could rely on Paqqy to be honest.

Stamkos / Drouin / Paquette

If Paq wasn't spottier than a damn giraffe, his body & shot + drouin's hands + stamkos' everything = sex.

The argument could be made for either Nammy or Paqq, but Nam is just too small to be a 1st liner and act as the "grunt" man.

What'd I'd do for a second version of Callahan's vision + weight + toughness.... *sigh*

ya if stamkos could carry those two kids we would have three great lines! no other team could match our top three lines with that set up.

I wish some people here could see those intangibles and everything else he brings on and off the ice before talking about moving him due to cap concerns. It's gotten to the point where I have put full threads on ignore, but that's the off season talk for you.

I have been re-watching a lot of games from last season and think him and Stamkos had good chemistry. They pulled together a lot of multi-point nights but looking at coop changing things around, think both would of had even better production if they stayed together all season.

You don't even have to use the eye test but look at the numbers as well. Stamkos was at his best on both sides of the ice last season when paired with Cally. You throw Drouin up there and you got a mix of players that can play at an above average to elite level on their styles of play. Drouin will also play more responsible defensively if he is skating with Cally something that is needed.

So vote for Drouin - Stamkos - Callahan!

Only Toews has intangibles. Everyone else is just a humanoid robot hockey player.

I agree he and Stamkos had some chemistry. Same with Killorn. The issue was both of them on the same line. Just too much of the same thing. One or the other and get Drouin to set them up please. I would give Callahan first crack at it.

Cally is now on twitter.

Wonder who stood for the abusing, hope that he will be at least a little active, like his teammates by posting something every once in a while at least.

Those hashtags makes me wonder if this guy had something to do with it. Hedman retweeted it as well.
