I felt this thread was needed. Since he has been back from his last injury he has been playing very well. Including a couple of clutch goals in the last 6 games.

I feel they need to re-sign their heart and soul captain, because this season alone might have been up and down for him, but he still is in his prime with several good years of production.

As of right now, the odds are he will be back, but anything can happen in this game, Hopefully the next several games he can continue to put points up and make a huge difference like he has since being back from his last injury.

I don't think Sather wants to see their captain say on Pittsburgh playing on the wing with Crosby, and knocking the Rangers out of the playoffs.

Wanna get in before this is a trade Cally thread, loved his play since he came back.

What does that suppose to mean? He has been very good since back. +5 rating on the ice, clutch goals, and a 4 game point streak in there. The points will come, also had 7 hits last game.

Pretty sure you can figure it out. He likes to do the Harry Houdini.

2 goals in January. SHIVER ME TIMBERS

Trade him please.

They are not, just been a hot topic, and feel i need to defend him.

There are like 5 other threads you can do that. This thread is just a stupid passive aggressive ploy. Just because people might think he hasn't been at his best recently or that a trade might be necessary for a whole number of reasons doesn't mean that they don't "appreciate" him.

Callahan has been a great trooper for the Rangers, and I'm greatful for all that he's done for the organization his whole career. He embodies what it means to be a New York Ranger. 8 straight years of almost never taking a shift off. He was a player we were all proud to call ours.

There's my appreciation.

Oh boy. Thinking that trading Callahan is in the best interests of the Rangers' future does not equate to a lack of appreciation for him. Most who are advocating trading Callahan appreciate him and what he has done for this team, they're just afraid of him becoming Drury 2.0.

didn't look up drury's contract info until now. yikes. i'd hate for the rangers to pay cally 6 or 7m to continue producing/playing the way he has been.

No, this isn't it.

Almost every post about Callahan has been about his "stupid blind passes" (overemphasized) and how he's been playing bad (he hasn't).

Once you get money around here, it seems as if the entire forum turns on you.

Can't wait until McDonagh gets paid and people stop appreciating how good he is, too.

Callahan has looked great since coming back. Think he's been little snakebit. The points will come.

If you wanna talk about what he might get in free agency, and maybe parting ways being the best course based on that, that's fine.

But lest we forget how awesome this guy is when he's on. That's what gets me.

Why is every one of your posts about Callahan

Pssh, why not?

That's rich, I can say the same thing about you and Rick Nash. Believe it or not, advocating trading the captain can't be so ludicrous as to claim that everyone who says it must not appreciate Callahan. The OP is implying he needs to defend Callahan because people don't appreciate him and want him traded. Those two aren't mutually exclusive. In every forum there are a few idiots that always have it out for certain players. Doesn't require an entire thread to defend them.

No, you literally didn't understand what I was saying. I didn't say people advocating to trade Callahan are inherently saying he's been subpar. I'm saying the multitude of posts everytime Callahan is brought up claiming he isn't a good player go beyond that.

You could say the same about me and Nash, except I haven't complained about him after he stopped playing abysmal hockey. Callahan has been solid yet people consistently cry about him being overpaid and bad. These are the same people who think Dustin Brown is twice the player Callahan is.

The worst ones are the posts about him having no skill.

Why the 180 on Callahan the past few months?
Because he's not the flavour of the month. He's scoring at a slightly lower rate than he was over the last two seasons, a lot of which can go down to the injuries he's gotten.

Provided the Rangers feel they can sign him at a sane level (perhaps even a hometown discount), I don't think we should trade him. You're not going to get his worth from a trade, because he doesn't light up the stat sheet; on the other hand, he does a lot of little things very well, and provides a lot of this team's identity.

I love Cally, love his work ethic and everything he's done for us, but at this point I'll appreciate him even more if he brings us a top prospect and a draft pick before the trade deadline.

When we're winning, everyone loves his grit, heart, and intensity. When we're losing, he's the worst because he doesn't score a goal a game. Such is HFBoards.
