RW Yegor Chinakhov (2020, 21st, CBJ)

Let's see how he progress next year before having this debate. If he shows improvement at the end of 22-23 then we will know. At least give him a chance to adjust to the NHL and learn from the experience on what he needs to do for next season.

That he could get in the KHL. In the situation he is in now he will remain unfinished.

Why would he remain unfinished? He's getting bigger/faster/stronger, adding skill, learning pro tactics, etc... doing everything you want a 20 year old to be doing.

Hes averaging more time in the NHL than Marchenko is in the KHL so... KHL is clearly ruining Marchenko's development
Fake arguments and faulty logic. clap clap clap again. He wasn't even in the same org as Marchenko. Chinakhov scored 7pts in the last KHL playoffs while not getting icetime or what? If NHL orgs handle their prospects differently it's okay. You discuss it, you find one team good at developing players, the other not so much. But when it's the KHL it somehow all molds into one big fiery ball of stereotypes, false perceptions and the KHL is baaaaad just because it's in Russia.

You really seem to hate your prospects. You seem to want them to fail.
It's like:
"-Do you want a Kaprizov?
-God, no! We want him here ASAP so he can become the next Yakupov."

Marchenko would get much less icetime if it was for me to decide. He is not there yet. He needs to work on his game before he plays games. That's the whole point you don't understand. Being in the KHL and playing games in the KHL are two different things. NHL coaches do not care that much for developing prospects. They don't have to. There is little use arriving in the NHL at the stage of development the lieks of Chinakhov are on. If they are lucky, they get a grip, if not they get sent down and wasted. In the KHL they get developed. It is probably hard to understand why from the american perspective.

Getting bigger, faster and stronger is something that would happen anywhere. That's not the point. But he is not learning russian hockey he would learn in Russia. You can't learn it from a NHL coach. NHL does not have russian coaches, because you know why...;) He is learning things he would pick up quickly anyway if he arrived as a complete player later. How long did it take Panarin or Kaprizov to learn those invaluable "pro tactics"? You won't like to hear it, but in Russia he would learn smarter hockey. It is still there even if it is declining.

Fake arguements? You acted as though Chinakhov gets no minutes so I point out he gets more minutes than another talented CBJ prospect. Noone cares what KHL team they play for, the arguement was minutes played.
Secondly with all due respect to young Chinakhov he could develop in the KHL for 10 years and not develop into another Kaprizov so I dont know what you are on about there. CBJ has already waited on Gavrikov and currently waiting for Marchenko and Voronkov so move the goal posts all you want but you make no sense as usual.

I'd ignore him. He has a very anti-North American/anti-NHL rhetoric. He doesn't know the days of the USSR are over I suppose, since everything is some sort of propaganda to him.

Regardless, Chinakhov will turn out pretty decent I think. Columbus generally does a better job with developing Russians than most other teams. Him, Marchenko and Voronkov will provide some much needed talent there.

I mean, he's getting 12 1/2 minutes including 1 minute 13s of power play time as a rookie 20 year old. That's a lot more time than most, and doubt he would be getting a ton more in the khl.

For reference,
1. kucherov was getting 13 minutes and 1 minute of power play time in his rookie season at 20 years old,
2. kusnetsov at 21 was getting 13 minutes and 15 seconds with 1 minute of power play time.
3. Tarasenko had 13.5 minutes at 21, with almost 2 minutes power play time.
4. Buchnevich had 13 minutes and 2 power play minutes at 21 years.
5. Barbashev had 11m 47s and 54 pptoi at 21.

So as far as time on ice, chinakhov is right in the wheelhouse of young Russians in North America at a young age that became successful.

2 years ago in 2019-20 when kravtsov was 20 he was getting 14.5 minutes in the khl.

last year in the khl chinakhov was getting 14 minutes time on ice, so only 1.5 minutes more than this year. I dunno, I think you are overstating things atas. Especially if chinakhovs toi grows next season in Columbus.

All of your comments sound so unnecessarily aggressive and so "black and white." What if Chinakhov isn't Yakupov or Kaprizov? What if he has his own path? Just because you personally disagree with Chinakhov being in the NHL, doesn't mean he is/will be ruined forever. I didn't think Sillinger should have made the team this year, but you don't see me running around calling him the next Gilbert Brule.

The most valuable thing he is getting in the NHL is the confidence he's gaining knowing that he can play in the NHL. For young kids just knowing they can hang in the NHL during their first season is absolutely invaluable.

For every Kaprizov and panarin there are 50 Gusevs/ Shipachovs

Bizarre comparison. For every Kaprizov and Panarin, there are 50 guys that regularly lead the KHL in scoring? Not to mention that Gusev and Shipachov didn't even come to NA until they were well into their careers and closer to 30 y/o than 20 y/o.

For every Kaprizov and Panarin there are 50+ Slepyshevs, Nesterovs, Shirokovs, Rubstovs, Gogolevs, Goldobins, Paigins, Maximovs, etc...Russians that actually came to NA in their late teens and early 20s and couldn't hack it in the NHL.

Not a prospect anymore but very encouraging preseason and grabbed a roster spot when not long ago I thought he was headed to Cleveland

The problem is that for every Kaprizov there are literally dozens of Excellent Russian players (both matured in Russia and brought over to NA early) that never level up to their potential.

Just like every other nation.

I'm sure a guy like Ovi or Malkin would have had better NHL careers had they been allowed to develop in Russia right?

but it's a can't lose proposition for you since every prospect that isn't being developed and then is brought over and doesn't make it then it's all about being ruined by the NA experience.

If the prospect is good enough they will become good players, something that Chinakov is becoming in the NHL right now.

In the general sense, Atas2000 isn't wrong... at least at it pertains to forwards.
But obviously every situation needs to be judged on a case by case basis.
