He’s gotta show more than a few ohl games at 1.5ppg In his d+2 season to be considered a “legit prospect”.
He is a BIG reason as to why the Ottawa 67’s are 6-0 through 6 games of the season (their playing their seventh tonight) He is imposing physically, is dominate down low with the puck, is finally staying healthy, getting consistent minutes and opportunitys and the stat sheet is starting to come alive.

I’ve been rather harsh on Boucher on the Sens board but I’ve come away real impressed with the 4 67’s games I’ve watched this season. (3 with Boucher in the lineup). He will be an NHL player.

Maturing is realizing that even though Boucher was selected too high, he is still a legit prospect…
Big difference between “legit prospect” - which sure he probably had the value of your average 3rd rd pick

NHL player maybe.

Far from the guaranteed Chris Neil someone pointed out earlier.

I also wouldn’t really consider 4th line grinders as “legit prospects” which is what he’s trending towards right now

I could definitely see him being a third liner - and Boucher is probably the more talented of the two, Neiler was great but he was able to stay in the league for so long because of his work ethic. Luckily that’s something that Boucher doesn’t lack either.

Don’t know if Boucher can ‘chuck him like Neil, which was his bread and butter for so long in the NHL. But you really don’t need that anymore in the NHL. Boucher is the superior skater and better in front of the net, both have, or had in Neil’s case very good motors and hit anything that moves.

I highly doubt you have seen Boucher play this season, otherwise you likely wouldn’t be so hell bent to dismiss Boucher as a player like what I have seen just observing this thread, I appreciate the discourse though.

He’s turns 20 in a few months; he better be imposing physically and getting consistent minutes In the O

I think you’re missing the point, but not by accident.

Also, is it Red Wings fans that come into this thread to spew negativity about Boucher? lol what did he do to you lot?

I don’t give two shits that Boucher is an Ottawa prospect. I’ve see him in person over half a dozen times since he graduated minor hockey and before the start of this year, and at no point had he looked a top 30 pick, let alone top 10. He’s got a lot to prove

As for the bolded:
2021 NHL Entry Draft: Ranked #29 by TSN/McKenzie

:D

Agreed he has alot to prove - and I can tell you what, he’s definitely looking good this season and the Ottawa 67’s will be 7-0 after tonight for good reason - Boucher is a big part of that.

A top 10 pick better be a big reason their OHL team is doing well. Despite that, hes still only 6th on his team in scoring. The teams leading scorer is a 6th round pick from the same draft as Boucher.

The fact that people in this thread think Boucher is good that his floor is a guy like Chris Neil and then you say a top 10 pick in junior is finally getting consistent minutes/opportunities isnt the good thing you think it is.Do you know how bad you would have to be offensively as a top 10 pick to not get those opportunities right off the hop?

I think you’re too hung up on where he was drafted.

That’s been talked about at length in this thread. I’m not going to agree, nor disagree.

That doesn‘t mean there isn’t a path to a successful NHL career like you and your fellow Red Wings fans are so quick to dismiss. He’s no Filip Zadina :naughty:

I love the revisionist history by some that suggest he wasn’t a first round level player.

Boucher didn’t play that many games and had a pretty quiet season due to injuries, although he played very well and looked like he had gotten better from his U17 season. He elevated himself into a first rounder in a quiet way by improving his offensive production and overall impact on a game. He became more noticeable on each shift as opposed to showing up some shifts and not others. Many of the stat watchers that didn’t actually watch any of his U18 season games don’t have a clue where he belonged in the draft.

Way too caught up on his draft position. Everyone knows he was picked too early. Doesn't mean he can't develop into an NHL player. He is 19. He has some physical abilities other prospects don't. Maybe he ends up a 4th liner. Maybe he ends up as Cal clutterbuck. Who knows. Not every players development is linear and not every players role is to score.

Yeah but guys like Neil or Clutterbuck arent his floor is more the point I'm trying to make. Guys like that show wayyyy more puck/offensive skill at lower levels before getting to the league and settling into their role. Tyler Biggs had some physical abilities others dont and was a fairly hig pick as well, Chris Neil or Clutterbuck werent close to his floor, same with Boucher

It's pretty easy to see he's a legit prospect just by watching him. Top 6 prospect? Maybe not, I would say no personally, but a high-impact bottom 6er? Certainly possible.

Not to derail but there's always been something about Biggs' development that was "off" to me. Sure the offense wasn't there but his physical/defensive game was borderline NHL ready at 19, then he just crumbled.

If Biggs made the NHL, he would have been the slowest skater. That's why he didn't make it: cement feet. Look how much cement feet holds back the talented Logan Brown.

Eh, he was clunky, but fast enough North-South for that 4th line banger role (at the time) He was right there and should have been able to duplicate a Matt Martin career, I think there was something off ice- maybe he just didn't want it.
