I feel like people are looking at the wrong things about Wilson. Yeah he's not very noticeable on offense, he might have one highlight reel goal if that. But if all you're looking for his shot accuracy and power he's going to come off as a dud. He does the little things that go unnoticed because they don't require much skill, but he's very good at it. Like I said it's his hockey knowledge, his positioning that allows him to score goals. He's in front of the net; screening goalies with his big body, getting deflections, getting rebounds, getting set-ups out front. These goals aren't beauties that will wow you, but goals are goals, and I don't know why Trocheck should get all the credit when he misses the net and Wilson is there to bail him out. I'm pretty sure no one expected this kid to develop into a sniper out of nowhere because there were no telling signs last year or now that this would be the case. (Come on, if he had that size and could score 30+ a year he would be a top 5 pick)I think this year's Tom Wilson is what the Capitals were hoping to see. I also feel like Wilson's skating has gotten a lot better, he can actually skate the puck in to the zone quite well. For people who haven't seen him play I think the plymouth whalers website has highlights from every game this season, just find a game where he's on the scoresheet and watch the game highlights. Like I said, it probably won't wow you or be pretty, but it's effective. As a wings fan the obvious comparison would be a more physical Tomas Holmstrom.
