What do you mean that he hasn't played at as high a pace in junior? Like a lower pace in terms of points, or the actual speed at which he plays at?

There's no two ways about it, Podkolzin has the bigger motor. However, I don't actually question Pavel's compete level. It's just that Podkolzin is about as competitive as they come.

The speed at which he plays, yeah. Dorofeyev constantly makes great plays at the MHL level, but he doesn't play at his full speed. He's adapting now and having success in the much higher pace of the KHL though.

Where do you have the two of them ranked? I'm not too familiar with non-NA prospects this year aside from Kakko.

Well take a minute and think. Kaprizov carried team as a 19 old in Metallurg and as a 20 year old in Salavat. Because of those seasons he plays now for power house CSKA.. but is it still a trap?
You mean age 18 in Metallurg and age 19 in Salavat!

So why is Metallurg keeping him up if they're not gonna play him for so long. His last game goes back to two weeks ago against Vityaz.
Any chance he gets some ice in the playoffs?

I don't think KHL teams have the same attitude toward always giving young players playing time for their development that NHL teams do. Maybe he'll play if someone else gets injured.

Especially in the playoffs when their team is competing. Kravtsov had a much more open chance in the top 9 to make an impact last year, so Dorofeyev may go under the radar.

Yeah I get that. I was wondering why he wasn't sent down the last couple regular season games, atleast to keep him ready should they need him in the playoffs.

I guess the other important factor then is that Stalnye Lisy didn't play a game between February 12 and February 26.

First KHL playoff game today. Metallurg lost 5-1. Anybody caught him?
See he finished with 11:27, 1 SOG and wasn't on the ice for any of Ufa's goals.

Not really noticeable for the casual viewer, but I focused on him while watching. He was probably one of 2-3 players that was not a disappointment on MMG. I think him getting 10+ minutes in a play off game is a good sign. I expect him to play for the Russia Olympic team once MMG is eliminated

Just finished watching. For the limited role and minutes he played, I thought he and his line had some good presences, mostly in the 1st. Showed nice vision on that backdoor pass to Rasmussen, which he could've maybe converted had he redirected it instead of trying to bring it to his backhand. Otherwise, he didn't hurt his team and did a good job keeping the play alive on a few occasions.

Made me like him even more, good hands , hockey IQ, vision and playing very well as an 18 year old in a tough league. If he falls below pick 15 I believe he can be a steal, probably deserves to go top 10.

That shift at 3:30 is my favourite. He completely nullifies Salavat's attack, gains the zone, lays a hit and eventually makes an excellent pass to Rasmussen for a scoring chance. That was an NHL shift.

Dorofeyev with 11:02 in a 2-1 OT win, MGG ties the series after having dropped the previous two.

Rasmussen and Pakarinen, his usual linemates, were moved up next to Kulemin to form the 2nd. So he didn't get to showcase much offensively with Shore and Lyubimov but he played a smart, mistake-free game nonetheless. He was quick to track and recover loose pucks in dangerous areas on defense. And completed a few zone-exits himself.

His puck management is so impressive, I've yet to see him put himself or his linemates in a bad spot with a forced pass or giveaway - something you'd normally expect from an 18 year old in KHL playoffs.

Metallurg have been eliminated from the playoffs in 6 games. Dorofeyev started the game today but barely played as it went on. I wonder if Metallurg's coach wasn't pleased with his role in their first goal against.

Stalnye Lisy's playoff campaign starts in two days so I assume he's back to the MHL.

Really wonder where he's projected to go. Was 65th on McKenzie's list back in January, I suspect that'll change substantially in their next article.
And if his playoffs had any effect on his stock, he's not eligible for U18s so that was the last bit of exposure for him. Unless he gets an invite with the men's national team.
