But comparing Stamkos’ scoring rate to Ovechkin’s when Stammer had an established top playmaker in the league isn’t so straightforward.
I didn't make that comparison.

I just posted the statistical record.

Aslo no idea what you are bringing up anyways, Ovi wasn't playing with scrubs, just scroll the time period for PPP.

I pointed out how Stamkos and JT did as young prospects, which was actually really good, and then added Bedard as that's where the OP was going.

Michov will probably look really good in his first 4 or 5 year period as well but he also started as a D+ 2 for context.

Michkov is being taught to play the right way by teammates and Torts. And we are seeing him grow. He’s scoring while getting “tough love”.

I'm in favour of this provided that there's effective communication and positive reinforcement. Michkov seems to be in good spirits so I think the Flyers are handling this well.

I don’t know if Bedard is getting the same help with learning to play the right way. So his offensive numbers will be decent but is he ever going to be good defensively?
Imo young players need to learn like Michkov is learning, to play winning hockey.

The last time Torts actually won something Michkov wasn’t even born.

Goodness, y'all are making me say controversial things today.

I think a big difference is that Bedard can't play the right way, Michkov needs to.

The difference between creating and leading the breakout and supporting it.

Chicago relies on Bedard to carry the breakout and create the transition. Philly relies on Michkov to be an option on the breakout and to support his teammates.

Bedard isn't particularly explosive compared to top lines and doesn't have the elite straightforward speed. While he's great at a lot of other areas, this area just isn't part of it. His cheating (at least from last year) was often because he had to in order to do his job. There's hope he'll develop into his role, I don't think he's capable of it. I think he'll need strong wingers to take over those roles from him, similar to how a lot of centres have had to over the years.

I feel Bedard is learning, he just isn't capable yet.

Michkov though, as the support, just needs to be an option for a lot of his role. Him cheating hurts the team. He does though seem to be getting a lot better, a long ways to go but it's coming nicely.

Michkov cheating hurts his team. Bedard cheating is a necessary evil for both a flawed system and an incomplete player.
