I don’t think he’s putting Bedard to shame, pretty sure they’re 1a 1b from the draft so far. Bedard needs to be moved perm to wing. ALSO excited for Demidov next year, Montreal suddenly has the best young core in the league imo

Maybe playing under Torts has been good for Michkov. I'm seeing such a growth curve with him, at both ends of the ice. He's figuring out the NHL game now, after month of peaks and valleys in a new league and a new culture.

Bedard just... hasn't improved much? He's still crazy skilled, but there's no jam to his game. He's neither super explosive nor particularly smart. I think he's been given too many liberties in Chicago.

I mean... He's never been explosive though.

People hated hearing it but Bedard has always been a Stamkos/Tavares tier of prospect.

I think he might become what we thought Stamkos would be, except Stamkos ahd elite speed before his injury and transformed himself, Bedards skillset in more JT like exceptional hand skills but so so skating but Bedards is better than JT IMO.

Stamkos in his first 5 years was tied with Ovi for NHL goals and was 4th in points.

That's a really good prospect straight out of the draft then injury hit.

JT in his first 4 years straight of the draft was 23rd in scoring and 12 in goals.

right now Bedard is 1.6 years in and is 71st in points (with 14 game missed) and tied for 101st in goals.

My bet unless he has future injuries that he will look something like JT (maybe higher after 5 years, were JT had his injury).

But time will tell and the Black Hawks have probably the worst set of NHL forwards among all NHL teams one takes out their top forward.

Michkov will probably stack up better but he is also a D+2 guy as well.

Bedard needs a couple of smart and skilled linemates, maybe even one, but really smart and skilled. With his shot if he gets someone who can score and pass (like, say, Demidov), he'll put a lot of pucks in the net.

That says more about Svechnikov than Michkov. OT but Svechs development is such a disappointment. 2018 2nd rounder Marchenko outplaying and outscoring him is just the cherry on the top. He had 61 points in 68 games as a 19/20 year old.
The way Michkov has been having to figure out usage, scratches, walking on thin ice is crazy as a rookie. Svech is an awesome player but if you know puck and watch both players they’re in diff classes when it comes to talent. Although I have to agree Svech should be way better rn.

Yeah as far as I’m concerned regardless of the ups and downs and hot takes for 3-4 years now it’s been 1a 1b Bedard Michkov it always was. And it still is, would really like to see one of them separate but rn it’s dead even tbh

Thinks it’s unfair to put one infront of the other, I think they’re extremely similar in raw talent, but extremely different players. Both are top 5 point talents eventually. Originally I had Bedard ahead but right now they’re nearly neck and neck I think, just my opinion.

I think Celebrini could quite possibly be the best rookie of the decade, the kid is outstanding. But I think a lot of guys here forget how great of prospect Michkov was. He’s literally the most sure fire 100 point guy I can remember in the actually don’t even know. The guy is really unreal, he will be the next Kucherov. Wait for it. Playing under torts has hindered him some but hockey fans will and already are starting to see what he can be.

Teräväinen was supposed to be this guy? I think they played ok for first games.

Stamkos also spent time with Martin St Louis.

Let's not start this again. If you're gonna do this anyway, do it right. Bring up Dave 😂Crapbacher
Yah I mean as a Habs fan I'm just confused :o. Assuming he's just salty the sens are gonna miss the playoffs again.

As for Michkov, I have a bet with a friend from before the year that he was gonna score over 60 points. It's been a rollercoaster but I'm confident again

Michkov is being taught to play the right way by teammates and Torts. And we are seeing him grow. He’s scoring while getting “tough love”. He’s developing into a complete player. I don’t know if Bedard is getting the same help with learning to play the right way. So his offensive numbers will be decent but is he ever going to be good defensively?
Imo young players need to learn like Michkov is learning, to play winning hockey.

Welcome to Torts, I know you're not new here lmao, it's wild what he's doing to this kid.
Wild yes, but in a good way, imo. Young players need to learn to play winning hockey while still having the freedom to drive offence and score. Michkov is going to be a winning player, who is leading his club all his minutes on ice. I don’t see the same out of some of the other young star players who are being gifted ice time (Cherry time too) while they’re not playing the right way. Cheating for offence shouldn’t be rewarded. Michkov isn’t allowed to play that way, so he’s developing into a winner. Some other guys might be putting up points but are they developing as complete players, like Michkov?
