Based on your description, Torts sounds like a genius with getting that sort of performance from scratching a player.

Was a hell of a shot, every time he gets a break away he does something different hard to pickup what he's going to do.

His line looked the worst and was benched at the end of the game today. Won't be surprised if he sits a couple of games again.

He was fine. Nothing great, nothing bad. I watched the same game and Tippett screwed up some looks more than anyone else. Michkov made some nice plays on the perimeter, backchecked hard, and won a couple of battles against bigger players. He turned a puck over in transition but he also was open a bunch and the dmen didnt pass it to him. Flyers dominated 3/4 of the game and had a one-goal lead, and that is not a line you deploy to protect it in the late stages. Torts rode the top two lines and they were outshooting them 2:1 for most of a game they won so it’s not like Michkov was directly responsible for anything serious.

Michkov didn't backcheck all that hard and looked brutal in his own zone. Can't say the same about Tippett.
Genuine question, are we expecting him to fly the zone so early for his whole career or is that a rookie thing that needs to be ironed out. I swear he senses an inkling of a 50/50 battle and is outta there. I can’t blame people for calling out Tippett, but I can’t help but feel like he has more turnovers because a) he has to carry the puck out A LOT and b) he has to do it down a winger because Michkov is already standing still at the opposing blue line.
I know, winger vs center responsibilities, but it sure feels like he is skirting even those responsibilities. Maybe I’m just old fashioned and spreading out the offence is the way the NHL works nowadays haha

I feel the overtime in Wednesday's game is a perfect example of that.
Shortly before the breakaway opportunity Michkov had, his linemate lost control of the puck because Michkov cheated the zone and wasn't available to support the possession, it created a chance the other way. Then when Philly got possession again, Michkov wasn't in position to support the breakout and entry, the pass had to go through 2 opposition players to get to him (great pass though).
These aren't plays that you want to see an NHLer make, I'd be pissed if a vet on the team was doing it.
He's not a vet though, yes he cheats a lot but that's something he's going to learn not to do as much.
He's got a lot of growing to do and a lot of time to grow.

You either didn’t watch the game or pushing (again) your pretty dumb agenda. Michkov had a good game and made several good plays… which were immediately dead the moment Tippett touched the puck. And they weren’t “benched” but didn’t play at the EN situation at the end of the game (like 3/4 of the flyers team too). The one and only Flyer who should sit out some games are clearly Tippett.

i like tippet, he grew on me. rough around the edges but he can be pretty good. while michkov likes to stand around like a pylon and wait for the puck to come to him, tippett is much more engaged in the game

Nobody doubts hes got great offensive touches but if you are using the most recent assist as an example, it's an example of the work he's got to put in.
He cheats the zone so hard there.

I remember reading last year that his cheating in the KHL would never translate to the NHL.
Here he is, cheating on NHL teams and turning it into goals.
Maybe he'll get busted occasionally for it. But if it works, it works.

Yet somehow he’s not even a minus player anymore, all the way back from -10. It’s like he’s figuring it out and isn’t a liability like people make him out to be. Guy knows when to go and when to play defense already, the armchair player evaluators know more than Michkov and really get it though lol.
