It'll be interesting to see the Mooseheads fan opinions later on in the year and how he is compared to Jake Voracek. Probably can't make a good comparsion after one game, but a few months into the season may give us the answer.

I thought he looked pretty good in the opener tonight. 2 assists, one where he dangled a CB defenseman and set up a one timer. He's more of a physical force than i thought he'd be. Very entertaining player and looked good on NA ice.
yeah he seems to protect the puck very well and seems to make risky passes look easy....only one game of viewing so far so we will see if he continues the same

In his second game he scored a goal and got an assist. Don't know what they were like since I just checked the box score.

Ciampini also scored for anyone who is wondering.

Frks goal was a nice streak down the center lane to the net and a shot in the net after reciving the pass...he also did a great one time slapshot on a loose puck in the 3rd with only limited time left and hit the post...his assist was awsome...deeked his guy out and passed the puck mid deek to the streaking player for a gift...he also made an AMAZING play in front got the puck on his back hand right in goal crease, the other moosehead was in the crease with him, if Frk shot the goalie had his shot stopped for sure but Frk did a touch pass about 2 feet to the guy with him and the guy missed, was a pretty simple tap in goal after that amazing play but the guy missed the puck lol...Frk is an amazing player...

I cannot wait to see him play later this year when Halifax comes to Lewiston. The fact that he will have two years of junior hockey under his belt before he gets drafted will give him a lot of time to develop into a great young talent for the NHL. Not to mention he will be a big part of Halifax's Memorial Cup run next year.

2 quick questions for you...
- How good is he right now ? Let's say compare to anyone of the 2010 Q draft class... Guys like Taylor Burke for example. Is he as good as Voracek when Voracek first came to the Q ?

- How did Ciampini look... Since you had 2 games to see him, I guess you probably have a little idea of how good he is.

2 games isnt nearly enough to start comparing him to voracek, they have similarities and differences. for instance voracek will probably be a much better two way player bu frk seems more physical....ask again in a couple of months though

ciampini was invisible the first game except the time he got crushed in the corner, i missed the second game

Point projection for this guy? 80-90?
I know it must be hard to guess.

I would say well over a 100 this year for sure. He is playing pretty good already and it wont be for a few more months that he will really start getting the hang of his new team, new ice, new league, new rules, not to mention he missed camp and the pre season schedule. These were his first two games in NA with his new team.

I would also say he is definitely a much better player then Voracek, and thats saying allot. Voracek was skilled, maybe even more skilled, but Frk has that fire in his game, that drive and instinct, and intensity to be the mcuh better player. He has shown he can produce, and he always does.

He's been fantastic so far, and I'd say anything is possible with the way he's played....but last the league leader in the Q scored 96 points....its way too early to say he'll definetely score over 100 point

but like i said before; hes been amazing, anything is possible

Based on extremely limited viewing:

Frk plays more of a team game. Voracek, when he first came into the league, was prone to getting the puck and then just trying to do his own thing with it.
Frk also plays a lot more in traffic, showed a willingness to fight through it and seems to be more useful without the puck, supporting teammates. When Voracek started, again he didn't really mesh with that team structure (not until the second half of the year). He also didn't respond well to close checking.

Voracek was a much better skater at the same point in their career. Much quicker and able to streak down the wing with the puck on a string.
Voracek appeared to be more dynamic, with flashes of jaw-dropping talent when he got the puck, had some time and space and desire to make a move. Frk appears to be more of a solid player all around.

I'm wondering if Frk could potentially be a top 5 talent in his draft year. I'm not hearing too much from the 16 year olds and from what I've read Frk is highly regarded.

The Halifax Mooseheads lost 3-1 to the Chicoutimi Sagueneens at the Georges Vezina Centre ice on Friday night but it was a second-period incident that had Cam Russell’s attention afterward.

The Halifax head coach and general manager was incensed that Chicoutimi defenceman Andrew O’Brien went after Halifax leading scorer Martin Frk and beat him up when he clearly wanted no part of the fight.

"(The game) is all overshadowed by the fact they had one of their dummies jump the best player on our team," Russell fumed. "Frk never dropped his gloves but somehow managed to get a fighting major out of it and their player should’ve gotten an aggressor (penalty) for it.

What a suicide pass. Frk made the right play giving it up at the line. Why he got it back is anyone's guess.

Suicide? He skated right into 2 defenders and a backchecking forward.

Keep your head up going through the middle

Frk isnt afraid of contact...he actually initiates it a lot of the time and his puck protection is unreal...when he has the puck down low, guys bounce off him.

That being said...open ice hits are going to happen, some players seem to avoid them better than others.
