He’s a very powerful and fluid skater especially for his size….. with a great set of tools and a ton of physicality the question with him since day 1 has always been the mental processor and hockey IQ. Both of which have surprisingly improved a ton over the last 3 yearsHe is a big tough guy who will never be the best skater but it has improved a lot.No fight after 3 games .
At least average for an NHLer, meaning not an issue at all. His issues have been decision-making, but this year he’s looked pretty sharp so far. How's the big fella's skating? That's his weakness in my book.
He's been noticeable. Playing well. I'm not sure what he is yet though. Eg. he skates and has the size of a very good first round pick. He's noticeable. So is JP though and it's not going the best points wise. Hope he isn't a classic 'tweener' where he's too good for the AHL, can't make it as a scorer in the NHL and ends up in Europe doing very well. As an Oil fan.. I hope he takes off!
Sounds similar to Shelpyshev who I was hoping we'd get back!I see him as a very good 3rd liner in his prime, who can maybe play in top 6 when there are injuries there. For Oilers that’s not bad…he could play a similar role to Kassian.
Slepyshev was a guy I liked form very early on. His play in the Spengler Cup really impressed me. I was very disappointed when he left.Sounds similar to Shelpyshev who I was hoping we'd get back!
