That team has some insane size if those numbers are close to correct. Holy crap.
Yeah Windsor is a big boy team this year for sure. Huge size up front.

Having a good laugh looking at some of these takes from last year. Makes me wonder if commenters actually watch his games (he terrorized my team many times last year :)). I’ll be surprised if he doesn’t become a perennial 50+ point guy in the NHL.

Greentree has been doubted at every stage and continues to prove people wrong.

With his hockey-sense/skill/size combo, I wouldn't have batted an eye if he was drafted after Luchanko. (I'm also not one of those who ever thought taking him at 13 was a reach). But I also think many (not all) of players taken between Lunchanko and Greentree were also deserving of being drafted where they were. LA did very well.

Never made sense to me why he was ranked so low after a 90 point dy season on the worst team arguably in the OHL

27 points in 12 games so far this season and not a peep about him on here in over a week?

Leading up to the draft, I got a ton of shit on these boards for saying I liked him over Sennecke - doesn’t look so crazy now, does it?

Lots of gloating from the armchair scouts when Sennecke went 3rd lmao. I stand by what I said. Greentree is a f***in beast, just dominant. He’s driving the offense for the entire team.

Don't think there's a single GM in this league that would trade Sennecke for Greentree right now, regardless his superior point totals, so gloating about that is laughable.

And I'm someone who likes Greentree and would have had no problem taking him in the middle of the 1st.

Oh I guarantee there are some. Sennecke was one of the most polarizing prospects in a long time. Seems like scouts either thought he had 1st line to franchise player type upside, or a middle-six ceiling. I was and am in the latter camp lmao.

And I’m not gloating, just pointing out how loudmouth armchair scouts on here often look dumb really fast. People saying Greentree was the worst skater they’ve ever seen, calling him a bust, saying they wouldn’t take him in the 5th round, etc. Some crazy shit was posted on here lol.

Just ignore the ones that say stuff like that they have 0 clue whatsoever. Anyone saying Greentree isn’t a 1st round talent should just never talk again period. This goes before the draft too.

Never will understand how a guy who puts up 90 points on one of the worst teams in the chl doesn’t go higher. If all he has to work on is his skating then that isn’t a big problem at all. He has the size, competitiveness and skill to make things work. Some just have speed and can never add that skill part to their game which is far more important imo.

its still weird to me to hear skating as a knock

for all the 'skating issue' guys to come thru LA in recent years--Vilardi, clarke, toffoli, i'm sure i'm forgetting some obvious ones--Greentree doesn't strike me as similar. Maybe he's just got that good a mind that he's better positioned/ahead of the play? It was a small sample size but he looked like a prototypical professional possession forward against men and skating never struck me as "he's gotta work on that."

A lot of times the really talented guys come out of juniors with little idea how to use their teammates but Greentree was a machine

That's not to say he doesn't have room for growth or things to work on but even with expectations he looked nearly pro ready

Exactly. The concerns over his skating are/were extremely overblown, imo. He lacks foot speed somewhat, and his acceleration is below average. But those things are completely normal for young guys with a big frame. That stuff will almost certainly improve as he gains strength and power as he develops. From a technical standpoint, his skating is fine. His stride is a little choppy and awkward looking at times, but once he gets going, he doesn’t lack speed, not to the point where it’s a huge concern. He doesn’t play the game around those things anyways. I guess if he was a finesse perimeter type winger, that it would be an issue, but he isn’t. He’s a beast down low and in the trenches, has good vision and IQ, is smart positionally, can play a physical game, and has an NHL level shot. Gonna turn out to be a steal for LA.

This guy is on an absolute tear right now equivalent to some of the greats currently in the NHL to come out of the CHL leagues how is he not getting more attention ? Steal of the draft !?!?

17 GP 9 G 22A 31 PTS + 17

For reference the next player close to him in points has 19 and its his linemate . Also he is 2nd on the team with +17 only to Anthony Cristoforo who is a defenseman with +25.

Wasn’t in contention with how bad he did for Canada at the u18’s.

Wasn’t even invited to the U20 Summer Showcase in Windsor.

He is a top-6 or bust player, and one that can’t skate well.

It was less a commentary on his deserved-ness and more a commentary on his response in play. Nice to see him just taking care of business and not sulking.
