Impressed me in the game tonight. Looked every bit the part of a future top six forward if he can play like that. I had a lot of doubts about his game and if it would transfer well to the NHL and obviously one game won't change that but he was much better then I expected. His hands are amazing when he had the puck it was on a string. His skating is NHL level he looked very quick out there. Was able to generate chances for both himself and his line mates. The nylander, hyman, kapanen line looked very dangerous when put together in the third. Biggest surprise to his game was his strong board play he won't be able to out muscle many people but he did throw his body around and was so shifty and quick that he was able to easily create space for himself. Hopefully he can keep up this level of play because he looked very good.
Let's not kid ourselves.. We weren't able to get Pouliot and had we been able to, we would have.He was such an astute pick up in the Kessel deal. Everyone was focused on Pouliot but Dubas was adamant on Kapanen.
Great pick up !
I would have taken this guy straight up for Kessel. Did not think he would transition so easily to the NHL game. His finishing ability is a bit suspect so I don't see him being more than a ~40 point 2nd line guy, but his speed is elite, hands, vision, looked good, size and strength are good, and he's always in good defensive position without the puck. He's going to be one of those extremely reliable two way wingers who can play in all situations and wears the other team down with his speed. 7 more years of that under cost control is huge for Toronto.
Relax bud
Hahahahaha. Seriously. A tweener who hasnt lived up to the potential in my eyes

Would you have taken Kap and 2 3rds since 2 5ths equal a second round pick?I would have taken this guy straight up for Kessel. Did not think he would transition so easily to the NHL game.
