Alex is a great Kid but as others have mentioned his playstyle is way different to his brother and one should compare Alex against other players of his age, not his brother. William is way ahead of Alex in his development, which is only natural considering his higher age.

Why even bother to compare Alex with a player that has such a different playstyle and contribute in a different way to a team? Besides William isnt a finished product yet. He hasnt played his rookie season, why compare Alex to a player that we dont know for 100% sure that he will succeed?

Its seems just plain wrong to compare him to his brother when you have a whole draftclass to compare him with, and a full league of NHL:ers.

Have him at top 10 in my Mock draft, dont think he has the possibility to contest on a top 5 spot. Laine, Matthews, Puljajärvi, Chychrun is pretty solid top 4 picks in my opinion. Tkachuk, McLeod, Dubois, Gautier is just a few of really good names that contest of the last top 5 spot. Besides i think some GM will be a little worried that he has been babysitted by his father at the OHL level.

I am from Sweden and I really like Alex, but some people here in Sweden believe he wil go top three in the draft, and thats just plain wrong. He aint that good. Top 10 maybe, but not top 5.

When was the last time 3 draft eligible players play together on the same line to the success that Nylander, McLeod and Bastian have had?

Must be pretty rare in the grand scheme of things.

Alex is not as flashy as his brother. I can understand why some people think that. But I agree with Craig Button, he can potentially be as good if not better one day. This is not a knock on anyone. Alex is bigger, he can finish better, he makes smart subtle plays, and his progression when you want to see progression as a prospect is just as good or better. Playing and leading his team at the worlds in scoring as a 17 year old is rare enough. And despite being away from Mississauga he still leads that team in scoring also. Pretty impressive.

As a Swedish poster I'd say William was ahead at the same age. Alex is putting up a lot of points and showing his sweet hands, but he's by no means dominating out there.

This is what I see as well.

No knock an Alex at all, but he's more of a complimentary piece than his brother. William is the driver, he'll always be the driver on his line if things go the way it's going for him.

Alex can develop into that, but I don't see it as much. Timashov was the driver on their line this year, but that's not unexpected due to Alex only being 17.

And I think that is the biggest separation between the two, every level I've seen William play(SHL, WJC-U20,U-18, AHL etc) everything goes through him. The teams always let him dictate the play, and I've seen that from him since he was 16 years old. Alex still needs to get there, but I hope he does!

Hope he tries with the leafs though, would compliment his brother well :D

His line was a -3 tonight.

Not a good game again, but that can happen in the bronze medal game.

Overall, his medal round play was disappointing but it should become better with age.

Still doesn't change that I hope he's a Leaf

Continues to solidify his status as a Top Pick with his game today against 1st place Kingston. A goal(empty net) and 2 assists today. 3 points. Was good today in all facets of his game. Mississauga 2-1 since he has returned to their line up.

On the PK again today.

Likes to cheat for offensive chances. Pretty sure the team has 9 shorties this year. Dangerous when down a man.

Cheat is not the term I would agree with. It makes him sound like a Kessel type player. Good offensive players get break aways when their team gets possession of the puck. Lemieux made a career of that. I would term Alex as an offensively gifted player that often hustles back to break up plays. He's smart when and when not to break out of the zone.

Bastian was the best player on that line today but Nylander was good as well. Really good with his stick today breaking up passes.

Agreed. Bastian isn't as heralded as the other 2 Mississauga stars, but he looks like a solid bet to go late in the 1st/early 2nd round.

Alex is on pace for about 100 points this year. Impressive pace, can't help but think the numbers William would've had if he played in the OHL

2-2, we lost twice this weekend to LDN and KIT

So at this time is it Dubois or Nylander?

When can you see Nylander helping the NHL club that takes him?

Can he step right in .. or is he 1,2, or 3 years away?

How close is he to Willie?

A bit of a dry spell (for his standards) for Alex since he's come back from the WJCs. 12 points in 11 games since the tournament ended.

15 more games left for Mississauga in this season, which means Alex will probably crack 75-80 points by the end of this season. Solid number, should be enough to get him drafted in the 6-8 range.

He was really good in WJC 20, However this was a strange year with many undrafted players dominated in WJC 20.

His father seems to be even coach or something there, do not know what I should think about that. It didnt do William any favor ,playing with his father Michael Nylander in Rögle during his draft year. But come on, he is a young kid moving to canada, it is understable that he wants his father or someone to be there with him.

McLeod, look at what happen with him when Nylander was at WJC 20. For me Nylander is a 4-8 pick. The top 3 is pretty much out of the question, then it to me stand between, Tkachuk, Nylander, Chychrun, Dubois and Juolevi.

Haven't heard anyone say that.

I have a question, that hopefully someone can answer.. Is Nylander on loan to Mississauga? I read he was, if that is the case then he is eligible to play in the AHL next year by whoever is drafted him. Same as when Honka was drafted and went straight to the AHL.

Correct.

Just like his brother, he's AHL eligible I think, because he wasn't drafted onto a CHL team.
