Here's what is going to happen:

Vegas sends 1st + B prospect for Barrie and and re-signs him on the spot 7M x 5y.

Toronto uses Vegas's first + Robertson to trade for Jeff Petry.

Montreal trades Domi for Dumba.

Minny extends Domi 6 M x 6y.

It's the busiest deadline ever.
hahahah Toronto wouldn't trade Robertson straight up for petry, good luck...hmmmm

Parise has SIX more years left after this year at 35. Unless Minnesota's eating a chunk who realistically wants to take that on for a late 30s player at $7.5 mil and has an extensive injury history

5 years

Parise's salary:

20-21 : 8M
21-22: 6M
22-23: 2M
23-24: 1M
24-25: 1M

I have a hard time believing that Parise is going to be playing 5 more years. The way i see it, he either hangs em up (or LTIR) after 21-22 or plays 1 extra more year for 2M bucks.

So, you could look at it this way:

Wild retain a big chunk, so you get a 2nd line winger @ ~4M cap hit who will most likely retire in 2-3 years.

Suddenly doesn't sound so bad, heck, if he produces like he has the last couple years it's even a good deal.

Of course, there would have to be some discussions about his future beforehand so there's no surprises.

If you think Nick Robertson and a late first is enough for Petry, you’re out to lunch.

how about Timothy + VGS 1st for Petry
not happening, I don't think dubas wants petry at all cause of his age but would take him for a lot less, I personally don't like petry and wouldn't give up anything for him but its just my opinion....

If the Wild retain 30%, I think Parise is worth at least a 2nd rounder, maybe a 1st. Parise is a 50-60 point player if he stays healthy. At 30% retained, he would have a cap hit of $5M, with five years left on his deal. I don't think anyone believes that he will play all five years, because he will only be paid $4M over the last three years of the contract. A 50-60 point player at a $5M cap hit for 2 or 3 years is easily worth a 2nd IMO

"I mean it! I'll trade Parise if I have to!"

"Oooook, Bill. We heard you the first time."

Trying to figure out how a Parise for Ladd swap would make any kind of sense for us, Ladd's buyout is as follows:

$4.833M
$4.833M
$4.833M
*end of contract, beginning of dead money*
$333k
$333k
$333k

That's an extra $2.7M in these next 3 years (not all that important). The dead money part of this is highly insignificant, and we'd all of a sudden have $7.2M in cap space right at the same time that Dumba is up for a new deal (assuming he's still around), the Boldy/Khovanov/Addison/Beckman group is probably coming off their ELCs. Zuccarello's NMC drops off to a M-NTC around that time too, which could open up another $4M-$6M. Same with Spurgeon.

Of course, none of that really matters if we end up getting boned over by the recapture stuff.

Nobody wants Parise or Koivu.

Especially Parise and his ridiculous contract.

I don't know that I agree with this. The Parise name still has brand recognition. He also has a severely back-diving contract that could be very valuable to some teams (high cap it, low real $). On top of that he's still quite productive, a proven leader, and the type that could help teach the next generation how to be a good pro. I'm not saying it's an easy deal to make, but I do think there are some teams that would be interested. The real barrier is probably just his own willingness to waive NMC. He's probably content to stick it out in MN and retire.

Was this supposed to be funny? You probably work în a morgue with this level of humour
I just find it crazy and kind of ridiculous actually when people say “we are absolutely not trading X”...

first of all, that’s not true. There’s a price for everything and if Wayne can get traded, anyone can. Second of all, NR hasn’t even played a game yet and was a second round pick just last year. The idea that a team would under no circumstance trade a player like that is ridiculous.

And you can think that and also think that he is a great prospect too but the idea of saying absolutely no to trading a former second round pick is stupid and you are doing nothing to contribute to the conversation, and you come off looking incredibly biased
