It happens quite often. My fellow Russians came out in the third thinking they are done for the night and nearly payed the price..

USA played maybe...4-5 solid minutes of this game. Also, I dont know what the f*** Knight was thinking coming all the way out and playing that puck. Their legs were gone 5 minutes into the 3rd. 5-3 makes it seem closer than it was. One of the worst games I've ever seen from USA during the WJC. Time to move on. Well done, Russia.

Russia's neutral zone play was very good this game. Larionov strategies to hand on pucks more and keep possession worked.

I think Russia looked like the better team for longer, but this game really just goes to prove that in this tournament anything can happen. So much of it comes down to goal tending a momentum swings with some reffing on the side.

Gotta give props to US for a strong 3rd period, they really pushed hard.

I think there was some underestimation of Russia, when they realized the level of game they need to bring, it was too late.

Sure.. That's definitely how sports work. Not like Russia has been legitimately the better team as long as they kept playing.

Knight sucked.....Wolf came in and played very well, Knight handed them the 4th goal which was the difference maker

Mixed feelings after this game.

In one hand, we beat the US for the first time in the last 6 games, and it was nice to see some decent defensive composure for the most part of the game.

On the other hand, I’m still not impressed by the offense. Two goals were gifted and one was an empty netter. I would love to see more offensive presence and production from top two lines.

Askarov was fine outside of the first goal.

Americans made a game of it and looked better the in the 3rd and especially towards the end. Russia was the better team for most of the game though.

Agreed. I really like his game. He’s a solid hockey player. Nothing too flashy. Just an all round good game. He’s the kind of player teams win with, that’s for sure.

Just don't forget that although they didn't create a lot offense in the zone, they largely controlled the play from the back. I think it's easy to forget about that.

I still don't like the combo of Amirov and Podkolzin on one line. They should be split. The bright side is we won without our top two lines clicking actually.
