Exactly. Size without decent skating, skill and good hockey sense is worthless.

Two players of equal ability always take the size. I remember an open line caller saying that Theoren Fleury could do everything that Eric Lindros could. The open line guest was a former NHL player and said to the caller, "you have it the wrong way around" Lindros is 6' 4" 230 lbs and can do everything Fleury can. Just sayin'

I have a friend who is very close to Lindros and she says he is NOT 6'4".

You’d think the way the US were bounced out of the tournament last year would light a fire under the returning guys but they’re still not doing much (except for York and Boldy). Early still... so let’s see what happens the rest of the game.

If you’re the Russian Brain trust after seeing this game thus far and prelims I think you have to love the way Larionov has these boys playing.

It’s a beautiful style of hockey in its own way.

Classic Russian style of hockey, it’s immediately recognizable to those who have studied Russian/Soviet hockey systems or watched it over the years.

It’s very distinct from the way Canadians play and even American teams play as well who are heavily influenced by our style of play.

Should be a fun second period. It’s been a good game so far.

The Russian Five was Fedorov, Larionov, Kozlov, Fetisov, Konstantinov
Really? Isn’t that mixing two eras? I thought Federov was with Mogilny and Bure? The great Soviet and then Russia teams had their top five guys were green jerseys in practice I thought? They were a special group.

The majority of players, at the top level, shoot left. The great Soviet teams of the 70’s (like the 72 club) had not right shot guys, except the goalies. Other than OV, how many great Russians shot right?
Kovalchuk and Panarin come to mind. Semin as well.

I wouldn't call Semin a "great" player....but he could certainly shoot the puck right handed

Does it matter much when Lindros is compared to 5’4” Theo? Love Theo though. Guy was incredibly good.
I meant nothing with my comment. It just came to mind when someone mentioned Lindros being 6'4". One time I was talking to my friend about Lindros and I mentioned that he was tall - 6'4" or more. She said there is NO way he is 6'4". I asked if she was sure. She said yes. How could I argue? She knows him and I don't.
