That's quite a warm welcome :D.

An interesting byproduct of having no nhl players, is that they will have plenty of time to find some chemistry. Looking forward to seeing how it turns out.

For the exhibition vs Belarus it was:

Kovalchuk - Datsyuk - Mozyakin
Gusev - Shipachyov - Kaprizov
Shirokov - Prokhorkin - Barabanov
Telegin - Andronov - Kalinin
Grigorenko

What happened to Ovechkin? So may people here were insisting he would be on the team with the full approval of the WSH franchise and their fans. What happened?

What do you think happened? Do you see a single NHLer in the Olympics?

Ovechkin say he didn't care what the NHL said, this from just a couple of months ago:

On Tuesday, a day after the NHL announced it wouldn't have its players participating in next year's Winter Olympic Games, the Washington Capitals captain told a media scrum at Air Canada Centre in Toronto that his intention to suit up for Russia hasn't changed.
"I didn't change my mind, and I won't," Ovechkin said ahead of Tuesday's game against the Toronto Maple Leafs.

So I ask again, what happened? I assume he just backed down as many of us said he would but I'm just curious, maybe it's something else?

I'm sorry if I'm being dickish. But what happened is exactly what seems. He can't go and so he won't.

Why can't he? I thought that he could go if he wants, but if he did then his NHL future would be in jeopardy. That's why I'm asking, he said before that he didn't care and a whole bunch of WSH fans were insisting that he would go, that they were fine with it, the WSH franchise was fine with it etc. so I'm just wondering what happened? Did he just back down or is there some other reason for him not going?

It's not just about the NHL and his team. Ovechkin would not be accepted at the Olympics and one has to be invited to participate.

Ovechkin said what he said because he was trying to push the league to change its mind. That was the only reason. They didn't.

OK thanks, that's interesting. I didn't know that and that's why I was asking. So I guess we'll never know if he would have gone had he been able to. I doubt it myself but you never know I guess.

Is A.Markov in? He had a good season in KHL. 31 pts in 53 games is pretty good in any league.

No, he isn't. Russia has two teams (SKA and CSKA) defense with Tryamkin as #9... We have Nesterov and Marchenko, though:(

Yeah, Korea doesn't impress like at all. Even a point for them at the tournament will be a miracle.

Have to say, they looked kind of sloppy against Korea. Especially Datsyuk and Kovalchuk. While that may be because its an exhibition match against Korea, they did not inspire confidence considering those two are supposed to be some of the best players here.

Gusev - Shipachev - Kaprizov and Shirokov - Prohorkin - Barabanov looked ok, though.

So it’s Yakovlev, not Tryamkin, as the replacement for Khafizullin.
I just want to punch Znarok in the face.
