Okay, how is this ideal getting even more outlandish? If Carolina is giving up the 5th overall to drop down to 15th there is little to no salary retention and we are sending zero cap back or someone on an very small deal.

And again, I don't think they give up 5th overall to save money.

No team will mortgage their future just to dump a bad contract. The only exception to this was Phoenix, who we all know was struggling big time financially. I seriously doubt Carolina is in the same situation. Keep Semin, wait for him to rebound, because he will.

FF I think we can say with 99.999999999999999999999% certainty the Hurricanes will not be trading the #5 pick just to dump salary.

The Hurricanes turned down giving up the 7th pick for dumping Ward's salary (20.1 million owing) last year, why on earth would they even entertain the thought of dumping Semin's contract (21 million owing) for a better pick in a deeper draft?

It's just not going to happen. There is a better chance of the Green Party winning in the next federal election.

We're better off trying to snag 35th OA. For Semin though, that requires one of Carolina's 2016 1sts.

And that 3.5 could be a very effective player or space for a contract renewal. With Monahan, Bennett and Gaudreau needing deals through that time, no thanks

I don't disagree, but that's also money we could clear just from moving Engelland or Bollig in their final contract years. And if Raymond is going out in the Semin trade, it's a wash anyways, as Raymond too has a 3m cap hit anyways.

Noel Accari signed with the Bruins. Which means with Mauermann and him out of NCAA Jankowski is the man in Providence

Nice, will be interesting to see what happens to his numbers.
I'm not sure they will be much better. 3 of the top 6 scorers will be gone including 2 of the top 3 centres, both Captains will also be gone.

Maybe Janko & Gilmour as captains? :sarcasm:

I think if Jankowski plays like he did in the final few games last year he will put up goals regardless, he looked like a force out there at times.

Imagine a 6'4 220 Jankowski... :amazed: (he's around 200, if I recall)
As long as he's committed to adding more mass he'll be a beast.

Heaviest I've seen him listed is 186 (and that's on the PC Friars website), so he's still got a fair bit of work ahead of him. That of course is assuming the site is accurate.

He is at least 200, so 200+.

He tweeted out his milestone a while back when he accomplished that.

Mike Reilly will officially test UFA

And of course, the favourite is Chicago. They're slowly taking over for Detroit as the league's model franchise, at least in the cap era anyway.

Can only imagine the reaction if Jankowski choose to sign with them next summer.

Do you Guys think Wisnewski would make sense? I feel like Anaheim will probably trade him this off season because he didn't seem to fit with Anaheim, and I feel like they would sell Low. Would a 2nd this draft and a B prospect do the trick? I think I would only do this is Wideman was traded tho because Wisnewski would probably push Wideman down to the bottom pairing and I don't think Wideman would work on the bottom pairing unless he was just a PP specialist.

Gio - Brodie
Russell - Wisnewski

Looks like a solid top four

I don't know just spitballing let me know what you think

I like Wis but his cap hit is pretty high. If we did get him we would probably look to trade Wideman in exchange.

I haven't heard much positive about Reilly's defensive game, just his scoring. I wouldn't be surprised if he ended up below Culkin and Kulak on our farm team's depth chart, as both those guys are pretty solid in their own end.
