I just listened to that. Some clear and obvious pandering by Gregor there. Pretty sure he says nothing if he diesnt have a relationship with Struds.
Very transparent, very unprofessional and very unnecessary.
I am sure even Strudwick picked up on that although I am sure he appreciated the support.

Ultimately though that was a dick move by Gregor.
Gregor often strikes when the person can’t defend themselves

Fortunately for me I was bestowed with tree trunk legs lol think it was all in the genes but playing soccer growing up sure helped keep my legs in shape. I used weights a bit in high school but nothing over the top it was more for tone rather than body building. You would think after playing hockey his whole life that RNH would have built muscle naturally from playing but yes after seeing his chicken legs I would have guessed the Oilers org would have some kind of trainer in place to help with such things but perhaps RNH doesn’t see his legs as a concern haha I agree though if he did work on putting some extra meat on his legs it would definitely help in some areas of his skating and strength battling for pucks.

You sound like a childhood buddy of mine. He had tree trunk legs at 13/14 years old...he played a lot of soccer too and he used to tell me that he had soccer legs.
He had narrow shoulders though so most of his body weight was below his waste. I was the opposite.
He was an endurance runner and I was a sprinter.

In any event RNH is a hell of a player despite his rather frail looking legs.

Maybe I'm imagining, but I have had a sense for a while that there a lot of bad energy between the blogger guys and media guys in Edmonton. McLellan once made fun of the "bloggers" to the media guys and joked about how they never come to the rink and live in basements or something like that. That might be the most laughs he ever got from a media scrum.

I think you are probably right about the animosity between some of the the bloggers and some of the media although Staples works for the Edmonton Journal.

Honestly, I understand what todd would be pushing but the thing with bloggers is that they will say what the media guys won't. Point out things that would lose the media guys access.

Yeah and unfortunately my soccer days and tree trunk legs are well behind me lol RNH is real 2 way player and a solid #2 centre just makes you think if he was a few inches taller and 20 lbs heavier he’d be a bit more stronger out there but he does well with what he’s got!

Gregor was trashing David Staples on the radio this afternoon, something about him being the worst evaluator of hockey players in the local media.
“Pretty bold move, Cotton.” If Gregor and Staples had differing opinions on something and I was forced to bet on who’d be right, I wouldnt put my money on Gregor.

Many of the bloggers come off as smart ass know it all twits. See “Bagged Milk” and “Woodguy” as examples 1 and 2. Staples and his buddy Willis do need to go to games live. Can’t get the full scope of a game or players from a TV set and spreadsheets.

So while I am not the biggest Gregor fan out there I give Gregor props for calling a spade a spade.

Honestly...I think Gregor was just parroting McLellan and pandering to Struds.
Also his comment was way over the top and just not necessary. It was unprofessional IMO.
Whether he likes bloggers or not talking trash about another local sports reporter is bad form.

Staples is more than a blogger anyway...he writes for the Journal and has media credentials and does go to some of the games which is another reason why I thought that was a dick move by Gregor.

The irony is so rich with this as well...Gregor writes a blog for OilersNation which is run by the very person (Bagged Milk) that you mentioned. Gregor is a blogger.

So I have to disagree with you on this one...I dont give Gregor any credit at all.

Both Gregor and Staples are bad hockey evaluators and both will literally agree with almost anything the Oilers do. I don’t give either of them much stock in anything.

Yeah you make some good points I must admit.

I haven’t listened to the Gregor statement about Staples but it is a pet peeve of mine that many bloggers / writers don’t even attend the games or go on the road. Willis is the lead for Edmonton on The Athletic and he never sees games live.

Actually I dont think this is true at all.
I have read and listened to both Staples and Gregor and both have been very critical of the Oilers and especially Oilers management.

I think both of them have some interesting insights and opinions...I definitely dont agree with them all the time but I still appreciate their work.

I hear what you are saying and its a valid critique.
That said I dont get to very many games at all but still I have some pretty strong opinions about the team. :D

Hmmmm

They’re only critical when they don’t have to worry about getting perks from front office anymore.

But at least you get to games! Speaking of which I got the seat relocation so in the attacking zone twice now!
