We need to trade Barrie for a defensive d and find a decent left d. Having One of Barrie and Bouchard in the top 4 is not a good thing.

Imagine being Mcdavid or Drai and seeing all these good players getting traded for picks and prospects. That must be infuriating to know your GM is this incompetent. Holland clearly has a tough time managing the cap, blew it all this summer. The Keith trade still just blows my mind, to overpay for a player who is so clearly past his prime. Atrocious cap management.
Only guys left we have actually been mentioned in the breath of us Chara and Soucy. Holland seems to not want to pay anything if he thinks the prices are way to high so I think he is looking at guys in the 4th rounder and lower level

Barrie is looking good of late so not sure about trading him now. We should add a RD and play 7D.

Barrie is looking good offensively and bad defensively still. Having only 1 right d that can defend in anyway shape or form isn’t good

The price Oilers pay is higher due to collusion and perceived market pressure.
My optimistic side says that if Holland were after run-of-the-mill replacement players, a deal might have been done already. He has surprised us before. "Expect the unexpected."
Don’t worry. To claim him he would have to move out just over 2 mill overnight to do so and I’m pretty sure he is asleep

Barrie has looked good defensively after his return from injury. Not expecting it to last but he has been our 3rd best Dman defensively the last few games.
Crazy time of the year . Fans what everything that is available then bitch about it a week later . Some of the price paid to this point are crazy . Add 1 d that better then our 5,6,7,8 options . Ship off Archibald whom I like if you can add a player that isn't limited to only playing in AB . If Holland can channel his inner Yzerman maybe add Forsberg type of Goalie

I am sure the 6 mins Benson/Archibald got/get can be redistributed without causing too much issues. If anything the forwards probably love the extra mins they get

Capfriendly is giving me different numbers. It's not using Paul's full cap hit. So the deal would require Kassian or some retention from Ottawa's side. It's still possible, but not as cut and dry as a two-for-two swap.
We're also not factoring in other moves like Archibald or Turris potentially moving.
I could see MDZ being on the radar though if Holland is doing his due diligence on Paul. IIRC he was considered at the deadline last season as well. That $500k buyout isn't terrible either.
