haha. Well they both appear to look like toilets.

Bullshitter Bob Stauffer also walking back on his cryptic nonsense today ... "ummmmm ... I know there were some reports out there on Sebastien Cossa. I'd say those are premature at best. I don't even know what DIRECTION the Edmonton Oilers are going to go in goal. I know we've talked about goalies before ... uhh ... uhh ... I've heard NOTHING on that front so ok ... nobody is extrapolating anything... the reality is the Oilers frankly have far bigger fish to fry in the short-term here from an organizational perspective. And they've got to get their coaching staff straightened around. Then the input from the coaches with the managers to how they can best build a team and try to upgrade what turned out to be a fairly lacklustre 2025-26 season. Remember to paraphrase Connor McDavid "We were average."

"There you go. There's a quick update for ya..."

Bullshitter also mealy mouthed on his prediction of McDavid re-signing with a 7 year deal.
I don’t remember that Cossa bit

Seriously what the f*** is edmonton doing.....just the media stories alone have been sheer dog shit eating insanity.

Way to kick off the off-season before it even starts.

-Try to hire a coach that is under contract
-Fire your current coach because you last idea leaked and backfired.
-lose your nhl ready winger propsect to the khl/for good.
-tell everyone you want to trade your 9 million dollar top 4 man.
-try to hire a coach that is under investigation by the league
-tell everyone you want to trade for an ahl goaltender.

He knows the formula. Throw volume shit against the wall. Good for hits and traffic.

His main team PR function is puff up owner reputation and advocate for public funded hockey rink (latter is a common tactic to get new facilities built on public money. Eric Francis has been carrying the water in Cowtown.) There was no way to sugar coat or dance around the controversial Babcock hiring intention once Dreger broke the story. That's really rare for Stauffer then to 'give it to people straight' laying out the internal support at all levels to hire Babcock.

Best to take everything with a heap of salt. Like when he was stumping Ralph Krueger as a future Jack Adams Award level coach. Or Darnell Nurse Larry Robinson comps on an outlier weird season.

Its interesting hearing all the insiders talk consistently about us being very active in the trade market. I feel like the last couple years it has been all about development and signings, with trade talk almost taking the backseat. It makes a lot of sense considering our needs and the market, but I just dont have a lot of faith in Stan making the moves.

Or maybe they are just blowing smoke.

The plan is pretty obviously to move Nurse out for cap space, slide Walman into that spot permanently, and use the extra money on an impact forward.

But I'm definitely expecting them to strike out on the last step there.

Sort of makes sense this year given the free agent crop as well as the cap rising

I hope 1440 loses their credentials.

Gregor is the biggest hypocrite in Edmonton media. His plagiarism is worse than anything Babcock has been accused of.

At least there are two sides to the Babcock allegations. The plagiarism is clear cut. He is a fraud.
its to bad. I remembered him when he worked with John Short and then had his own show on 930, I think?? he was pretty cool back then, and I always respected him for putting up with an east indian caller who rode his ass. His first show was a good one.

But where is that fwd coming from? Ive been on the McMann train, but not much chatter there. Tuch almost surely re-signs in Buffalo. That doesnt leave a lot of FA options.

Embarrassing to see Dusty Nielson had retweeted ol' Klima Lid's post last night. Then ran with a follow up tweet projecting a Jarry Cossa tandem. Pretty sad to see a prominent local media guy get so easily duped or Klima'd as we can now call it. :

There's underlaying logic to this hope: local guy; high pedigree & latent potential but stalled development; critical area of weakness; no longer waiver eligible; absolute failure to draft and develop goaltenders. Cossa's a great prospective target. Hope it might happen. But the rumour hype around this has been pretty crazy. And easy to see where much of the smoke was generated.

So his intention wasn’t bad at all, he was trying to relate to players one by one as a person. His actual intentions matter a lot to me.

I suppose there might have been some other motive, maybe he saw the veterans spent their summers diligently training and spending time with their wives and babies and other guys just had pictures of them partying or something. Maybe he scrolled too far in someone’s phone and saw something embarrassing.

Either way, it’s something that can be learned from if he didn’t have bad intentions. We don’t need to bury people over misunderstandings with no ill will.

I think we’ve all been there at some point in our lives interacting with someone of an older generation, maybe they do something that wouldn’t fly in our generation but we understand their intentions aren’t bad and you deal with it in a mature way. Some day we’ll be a geezer trying to say or do something nice without realizing nobody does that anymore.

Don't try to normalize this. It's weird. I have never asked an employee that has just started work to show me pictures of his family to get to know them better. No one does this. Putting an employee in a position to have to say no to me to rightfully protect their privacy is just not normal.

Your workplace isn’t a sports team. Teams do all kinds of team bonding stuff that’s not normal in a regular work place.

And I would be even less inclined to accommodate him if he did that. In two years it becomes a 10 team list.
Yup. As fans in Edmonton would know better than most, the real problem here (because who can expect integrity anymore), is the proliferation of NT and NM clauses. Owners need to demand that these be scaled back or even eliminated. A compromise idea would be to allow a certain number per team (two seems more than adequate). The league cannot afford to have cases like Marchand, Marner etc continue. IMO the balance of power has swung back too far in favor of the players.

Vegas doesnt want to give us Cassidy, We bumf***ed Knoblauch out of Edmonton, The entire NHLPA and 99 % of people dont want us to hire Babcock.
...

f*** it wheres Todd Nelson nowadays ? Paperworks ready

Hilarious how Babcock resigned from CBJ because he didn't want the NHL to do the investigation but they're going to do it now anyway lol

Katz probably has a huge load of cash in front of the Babcock to make it worth his while to fight through the investigation now.
