Why would any rational human take your 6/7/8 year proposed contracts which pay less than the 5 year contract?

Hyman is a very effective hockey player. I've watched a boatload of Leafs games with my father being a huge fan. But, his effectiveness after year 4 is probably drastically reduced. 8 year contract HAS to be with a pretty low $$ (less than $5M per) for it to be ever worth it IMO.

He is exactly what the Oilers need right now however.
