Throwing Skjei's name in there is worse than main board proposals lol.

I think he was talking about AHL, the Condors defense could use a bit of help tbh
He's as much as a top-4 defenseman as Ty Rattie was a 1st line winger that year he played next to McDavid

That makes alot of sense for the Preds. They've been looking for a 1C for like decade. And they've added all these pricey wingers with no one to pass to them.
Having trouble seeing what would entice Buffalo from that Preds roster though. Not alot of great pieces I could see them parting with. Brady Skeij does makes sense for the Sabres though. Kulich would step up to be 2C, Novak at 3C, Clouder at 4C. Their Center core still could work...
Kind of interesting on the fancies - Varlamov looks pretty appealing tbh.

2.75 AAV is mighty doable, too.
Cozen's screams "1C" in the same way that Johansen, Duchene and Turris all did for them. Someone who when matched up against true 1Cs gets stomped. That makes alot of sense for the Preds. Yeh i could see that. He has the tools but are the skills high end enough? His down year, this year, is also of concern.Your two year picture sort of hides the fact that he's been terrible this year and has worse numbers than Skinner.

Yeh that’s true. I’m just saying it would make sense for Buffalo. I’m guessing Skej got himself some trade protection with that deal too?I don't see Skjei as making sense since he justtt signed in Nashville. If anything I could see them dealing Josi before he falls off a cliff.
Power, Cozens, plus one of Ostlund/Kulich/Helenius/Rosen for Josi and Novak? That sets up the next chapter for Nashville pretty nicely while making Buffalo stronger today.
The good thing is that Bowman has done it before.
The slickest move would be to let Kane play for a month or so to get some games in and then have his injury have a “set back” in late Feb that lasts until game 1 of the playoffs. That is probably a plan in progress right now with Vegas and Stone.
Call me cynical but I could see him play the whole tournament too. Then afterwards reveal his big tweak.Stone is going to "tweak" something at the Four Nations and be on LTIR, calling it now.
Gary is polishing up the script in Word right now... NHL head office has a hard drive filled with scenarios to choose from for their favourite Sunbelt teams.Stone is going to "tweak" something at the Four Nations and be on LTIR, calling it now.
Uh what? Hyman has been great with Davo since coming back.Honestly I'm a little surprised they haven't given a Skinner or Advidsson an extended look with McDavid. It's not like RNH and Hyman's play this year has been enough to lock those spots down.
Personally I don't mind the idea of keeping the Drai line together, and giving a rework to the 1st and 3rd.
Arvidsson-McDavid-Hyman
Podz-Drai-Kap
RNH-Rico-Skinner
Brown-Janmark-Perry
McDavid gets two wingers that go to the net well, and Arvidsson is decent enough defensively that the falloff from RNH isn't a massive issue.
The 3rd line gets a strong 2 way personality anchored by RNH and Henrique, who normally look good together. This also puts Skinner in his best spot to succeed, and gives you a few months to evaluate that.
Much like RNH and Henrique, Brown and Janmark work well together and they're used to playing shorthanded, so Perry's slow boots shouldn't be much of an issue.
Dylan Holloway where you at!?!?Kane not likely back until playoffs? They better use that 5 mill nicely lol. That opens up a lot of possibilities
I'd be happy with Jokiharyu. That's the target in Buffalo

Why exactly? Hasn't he only ever been a bottom pairing dman on particularly bad teams?
The skillset matches Nurse. He's basically a much better Stecher. He is behind some big names like Byram, Dahlin and Power, players we aren't paying up for, and still is playing over 16 minutes a game of just even strength time. He has a lot of PK experience. Why exactly? Hasn't he only ever been a bottom pairing dman on particularly bad teams?
He is in the Ceci tier but a much different style. Jokiharyu is a great skater and passer. I haven't watched him for a long while though but I looked at recent player reviews and those stick out as strengths.Joker is "safe"- he is ever so slightly above water in GF/GA and xGF/GA the last three years with the third most defensive zone starts on the Sabres. The majority of advanced stats have him third behind Dahlin and Power (or Byram) which is not awful but also not stellar. The only zone exit/carry stats I can find for him are a couple years old but also paint a very vanilla picture which tracks. I think we can do better, my fear is we trade for him and he's basically a Ceci clone.
It's hard to gauge when he's only been on bad teams. Look at how Bogosian elevated after leaving Buffalo. I have to admit though that I haven't looked at him lately. But, I'd assume he'd be a risk, like if we went after Fabbro or Borgen. It saves some assets, and maybe we don't have the assets for an established playerHe’s not good.

Bogosian was solid in Tampa. It makes you wonder if he could have got out of Buffalo while he was still young-ish. Can you prove that Jokiharyu is part of the problem? I'm open to it.Nah he is part of the problem. Bogosian? Yikes.
