Decent 5v5 play. Decent skill and hands.
With a player like Drai, I see more potential than Podz and definitely an upgrade on Kap
I agree. I also don't see a great fit in Seattle. That team lacks play drivers. Might be good to look at a little while down the road if things go sideways.

Kind of hard to believe someone couldn’t beat that.
Im thinking maybe there were competing offers in the ball park of what Kappo should cost. And GMs played a bit of chicken with eachother, not wanting to get fleeced on Kappo (he's far from a sure bet).

So maybe Van had an offer of like

Vinny
3rd
6th

But Rags preferred Borgen.

I kind of get it.

Kakko might be a rental just because he's another guy that might scare his team away from an QO with arbitration rights.
Yeh he's in that Yamo/Pool f***ed by the arbitrators overpay territory.

You can’t take any value precedents from any move the Rangers do this season.

Drury is in full panic mode and he f***ed his team with how they handled Trouba and how Laviolette handled Kakko.

Somehow they’ve become the biggest tire fire in a league that includes the Buffalo Sabres.

No value precedent you say? Jeff Skinner and Adam Henrique for Filip Chytil and Braden Schneider. Get er done Jeff.

Unlike those two, Kakko can actually play a checking role.

I think Trouba sucking for 8M a year f***ed his team, not the trade.

It’s not the trade, it’s the fact that they threatened waivers and sending him down to the AHL.

The Rangers detonated a self made grenade in their locker room and simultaneously made it that much harder to sign free agents in the future without offering everyone a full NMC.

They actually did well in that Trouba trade IMO.

Drury and the coach must have taken Kakko's comments personally, they moved him out in a hurry.

Guy never really panned out and is another example of why the WJC/WCs shouldn't be factored strongly in any kind of draft talent assessment, but that's still a pretty poor return for a guy some thought should go first overall just a few years ago. Though, considering the Oilers got absolutely nothing for their Finnish bust under Holland, I can't help but still be mildly jealous of the return.

Would’ve liked Kakko as a reclamation project but we didn’t really have a piece like Borgen to offer. I am guessing the Rangers extend him shortly.

Wonder if this sets up a Marcus Pettersson trade, Pens will still need a couple of warm bodies back there after and they know POJ from before. Also fits with the chatter of VAN being hard after a D right now.

So ...trades...

1) Everybody here knows i've been after Kovacevic for about 3 years. Janmark goes the other way.
2) Pickard out ....Alex Lyon in. Need someone we can trust for more than 1 game at a time. What if STU gets hurt.
3) Matt Murray from Milwaukee Admirals for Colin and a B prospect. Closer and better than Rodrigue.
4) Noah Cates for J. Skins. Yes I know Jeff has to agree. Noah has alot of experience at centre as well and can spell Ryan as well replace a lot of Janmark.

Net increase in Cap = 0.
