Oh you were talking about how he pitches these prospects. Well Bobs never been a huge analytics guy, so he’s just using the language that he’s always used and known.

Do you think Henrique has covered the bet we made on him this year?

Do you? What was your expectations for him as a 3C with no PP time compared to how he's performed?

Habs fans I know really like Matheson, says would be more then a 1st. And as a habs fan says he would be the best dman on out team lol. But I think he'd be a great 3/4 dman.
Habs fans have been saying ANY of their defensemen would instantly be our best defenseman since Maurice Richard was in diapers.

I'd expect a bit more production from $3M, even in a 3C role, and Henrique has even said it himself, that not enough offence has been coming. Especially considering the cheaper guy we replaced is better at transition defence and outproducing him for $1M less. That said, Henrique's game has gotten better lately, so it's not like I'm counting him out. And it's the playoffs where he can show his true value to this team.

Keep in mind McLeod's shooting at a 19.4% while his career S% is 12.7, and Henrique is currently sitting at a 4.1% when he's a career 15.2% shooter.

McLeod's being outscored 16-13 while Henrique is an even 10-10 at even strength.

Context is important.

Yeh maybe those percentages even out.

Yes context is important. So we should remember that Mcleod is playing on a trash fire and Henrique is playing on the best team in the League.

Like who lol? Lmao. I'm shocked at how much people hate Matheson. I mean the guy had 62 points last year and has 16 points this year. He plays the game the way we need where he moves east to west and that's what suits

Is him being on a terrible team going to be a factor at all?
Honestly for me it's another factor in the negative. I'm leery of bringing in a guy that hasn't had to ratchet up his game to that of playoff levels in quite some time. He'd be a VERY good 3LD, but that's too expensive for what he brings.

At this point I hope Matheson isn't the guy so I don't have to read endless nonsense from the "Matheson sucks!" crowd to try and justify their opinion no matter how he plays.

It's not that he sucks, it's just that he is the wrong fix for what ails us. If we had, say, Pesce instead of Bouch and needed a QB for PP1, sure, let's pay out the nose for Matheson.

But we have the opposite problem and yet another defensively suspect player is not the answer. 100x moreso because Matheson is the wrong hand, so we're then asking someone to permanently play on their off-side.

That all should be common sense to this management and coaching staff, but since literally day 1 of the season the focus has been on a left-handed puck mover according to Stauffer so someone somewhere is pushing this narrative internally. I'd love to know who so they can be shamed publicly for such an asinine idea, but we may never find out.

If Matheson sucks that much I hope he's the defenseman the Canucks are reportedly vying for.
With the warts that Matheson has, he’ll be Tochetts new whipping boy in short order.

Unlike the Oilers, they won’t be able to mask his shortcomings and benefit from his skill set. Which is what I’m thinking Oilers management is seeing here with this player.

Holy shit. Thank god Holland didn't make that move.

I think with the right addition, a struggling defenceman could really take off under Knob's system. Or a mid-tier defenceman can be great, as we saw with Ekholm. I also worry a bit about Emberson/Stecher's lack of experience in the playoffs, so there needs to be some insurance on that front.

That said, the market isn't showing me much potential for that type of defenceman. The only name I really like is Provorov but he's a LD and likely goes to a team needing a LD that can/will extend him like f***in Vegas. Outside of that, it's Matheson and other guys with serious warts.
I just want to know. How is trading Drai for Kuch or Kuch plus Cirelli a horrible move?

Kucherov is a very good player. Probably top 3/4 in the league

Aint no way the organization thinks a Left Side D playing his Right Side is some sort of genius hockey move. It's merely a reflection of the availability of the market. You can dream all day of a Pesce, but that player is simply not on the market.

The calculation the Oilers are making is what's available and is that better than Emberson/Stecher in the 4RHD hole.

Matheson has a lot of talent, I'll give him that. I can see probably why a Paul Coffey would say go get that that guy.

Not many D that can make plays like this.

Dude can skate.

Not sure if this is like a pressing need, but it wouldn't be bad to have either, Coffey is gonna have to do some work with this guy though.

It also probably wouldn't be the worst thing in the world to have a player that can take Bouchard's place on the PP and top pairing if need be, not ever having consequences for Bouchard playing poorly I don't think is doing him any favors in his development either.
