I guess, I don't think that's a worry in the slightest, because they'll extend him in the new year, Stauff has mentioned this.I very much doubt this. Emberson is going to get the bulk of the starts because he needs to play a certain number of games to remain an RFA.
I guess he doesn’t want to be on a playoff teamAnother tidbit from Friedman
There’s a belief that Bowen Byram eventually wants to be the number one defenseman on whatever team he’s playing for and that’s something to keep an eye out as he gets closer to UFA status
Or in the NHL?I guess he doesn’t want to be on a playoff team
Lol, or he really wants to be a Flame....hehe.I guess he doesn’t want to be on a playoff team
They're trying to trade Cozens as well and Nashville is gunning for him. Is Buffalo ever going to realize their foolish decisions?Buffalo is going to make a terrible move here. That's a team that needs to clean house before any major trades are made - have the track record of Eichel, Reinhart, et. al.
I don't think Tage Thompson is a true #1 C, and aside from Dahlin I don't trust their defensemen, including Byram. I think they're going to get rid of the wrong players and continue to toil. Cozens had 31 goals as a 21 year old C 2 years ago, something clearly is there, but the environment stinks. I feel bad for Mcleod, that franchise is a death stamp for so many players especially if you aren't a star.
It's usually just 1 poster who freaks out whenever the Oilers aren't involved in any trade (regardless of whether it was a good or bad one lol)Like the most hilarious of overreactions. EVERY time a trade is made this fanbase freaks out. Then using a 1 game sample size to be angry about not getting Cam F'n Fowler is PEAK hfboards lol.
Starting to wonder what that guys old account was named. It's usually just 1 poster who freaks out whenever the Oilers aren't involved in any trade (regardless of whether it was a good or bad one lol)
If/when the team gets healthy I could very well see Kane-Henrique-Kapanen being put together as the third line and being a very very effective one at that.I was the biggest McLeod supporter on the board, but he isn't better than Henrique defensively, the fundamentals of Henrique's defensive game and defensive awareness is markedly better, what McLeod did better was drive possession (mainly through leveraging his skating advantage offensively and defensively) which is what is actually being shown in his analytics.
What I have been arguing for this year is we need to target an upgrade to pair with Henrique who helps him with zone entries and helps stimulate offense and zone possession for his line. Henrique still has offensive chops, but he needs a straw that stirs the drink.
I used to think that too because he broke into the league on the wing and I hadn’t paid him much attention till lately. But hes taken 50 more face offs than Ryan this year and 300 more than him last year at well over 50%. Took the third most faceoffs on the Preds last year. He is pretty clearly a center.IMO McCarron is more of a RW than he is a center, so I don't think he should really be seen as a D. Ryan replacement.
I want to see Philp actually get a string of games before deciding, but Philp does have a style of game that I wouldn't be surprised if he was very steady and stable even as a rookie.
Also Philp is an old rookie at 26 and McCarron while being a known name for a long time at 29 yrs old, he's only been an effective hockey player for roughly 2 seasons worth of games and last season was his first playoff appearance and was a cumulative -7 with 0 points in 9 GP.
Terrible idea unless it's part of a big package for a significant asset imo. A fully healthy Evander Kane is a massive headache for opposing teams in the playoffs. I certainly wouldn't throw Kane out like a bunch of people want to for some reason.I would trade away Kane tbh. 5M in cap space can go a long way. And if he does go, I wouldn't be opposed to some meat on the 4th line.
Kane can completely change a series when he’s healthy. The exact player teams grab for a playoff run.I would trade away Kane tbh. 5M in cap space can go a long way. And if he does go, I wouldn't be opposed to some meat on the 4th line.

If you want to free up cap space from the forward group, it’s Skinner or RV. Kane brings a dimension that the team lacks.I would trade away Kane tbh. 5M in cap space can go a long way. And if he does go, I wouldn't be opposed to some meat on the 4th line.

Why is it a terrible idea? The oilers made it to the finals largely without him, and they are doing fine this year.

Because the last time he was truly healthy for playoffs he was a top three player on the team. And he brings elements that our group lacks. Why is it a terrible idea? The oilers made it to the finals largely without him, and they are doing fine this year.
