I wouldn’t be surprised if that doesn’t last all that long. Not because I have faith in Skinner, but because Gibson has been a bad goalie for a half dozen years and is seeing his numbers plummet after a hot start for him.
Yeah cuz it has nutting to do with the team infront off either goalie. Kinda comical skinners stats r brutal because of edmontons d yet Gibsons r brutal because he sucks. Lolol

Stuart Skinner still having problems proving he's better than Pickard. How much more if we insert him in Anaheim back end instead of Gibson

I re-watched games 4-6 of the cup final last year (weird that they cancelled the other four games) and Skinner made multiple unreal saves coming across the ice. He's obviously capable of playing like an elite goalie, he's just inconsistent and his lows are low. BUT, he's also very young, so while agree that it would be nice to have a good backup to push him, I can't get on board with the idea that Skinner is a terrible goalie. If he develops consistency, he'll be one of the top goalies in the league.

Go watch the highlights and tell me he had a chance on any of those goals. First goal is a puck thrown at the net that bounces off a body straight to a Sens player net front who is completely uncovered, second was a 5 on 3 one timer that he stopped actually but I guess they ruled was under the body and in, third is a PP cross seam pass that his own D puts into their own net, 4th goal point blank tip in off a terrible non-clear, last goal is yet another PP goal where Tkachuk is completely uncovered ... I mean at best maybe a top end goalie saves 1 of those, but I don't think he had much of a chance on any of them.

The Ducks are a freaking nightmare defensively too watching those highlights, can't clear a puck to save their lives, Sens players just allowed to camp in front of the net, horrendous PK coverage. Fowler looks awful.
LOL

is this not what people who hate skinner say to people who dont think hes all that bad?

Mintyukov would be amazing. Provorov, Fowler, and Borgen good as well. Andersson is a no chance. Everybody else is meh.

Skinners problem is consistency
Always has been. Shows flashes of brilliance. Then litterally shows how bad he can be. And the even bigger problem is there is no in between. This leads me to believe it's a mental thing issue. Which works me a goaltending coach problem. Sadly we don't have one other then in title only

I watched this game. He wasn't good at all, but to be fair, the team played horribad in front of him. Fowler and Gudas in particular were a train wreck. I'm just not sure I want to touch anyone from that tire fire of team, if I'm honest. They remind me of the DoD oilers a little too much.
and what happens when we have a bad game defensively? We need a goalie that can make saves when needed, not more of the same, but more expensive.

The Oilers have been icing the best Oilers team in 3 straight years and the best goalies they have are two backup

I've always thought Borgen would be a great fit.

Big, mobile righty. Impending UFA having a bit of a down year, so could be cheapish and could get retention.

He was one of the best elite comp D in the league last year. They were using him as their matchup righty over Larsson even.

Good luck with that. Mintyukov was picked 10th overall in 2022.
Jiricek who was picked a few picks before, was just traded.

What the hell is going on with 2022 prospects? Slaf nor Wright are putting up points, all the D are in trade talks, Savoie traded. Cooley looks really good but besides him who is looking like a top talent?

good enough to deplete our remaining assets for?
I do think Gibson can succeed here. But it still is a gamble for sure.

All this talk about adding a defenceman isn't gonna fix the problem we have in goal. Skinner gas played pretty good last few games but unfortunately he will fold again anna again. His consistency has always been his Achilles

Columbus still got 75% of the value back. I would consider that a win considering they also picked up Fabbro for free.

I agree. Borgen would be a sneaky good pickup. Not the sexiest name of the players listed, but he would be a solid choice for that top four spot.

Wright's been heating up. Only 2 points in first 18 games, and now he's got 6 goals and 9 points in his last 8.

Mintyukov is a quality young dman.
I cant imagine what the asking price is.

He would be a really nice addition to the bottom pairing with the ability to pair with Nurse (and bump Kulak down) from time to time.
