Henrique is on pace for 6 goals. Ryan, our 4th line C, on pace for 0. Podkolzin, our 2nd line winger, on pace for 7. Arvidsson will come along I'm sure but he's a wild card, as any time he gets going he seemingly gets injured. Again, Kane is a 33 year old power forward coming off major surgeries, he might not even be close to himself until next season. I understand we have talent, but a lot of them are past their best-before date IMO. Our team defense is vastly improved this year but offensively we went from a top 3 team to a middle of the pack team, that's how I see it. That doesn't mean we arent an elite team, but we swapped out one strength (offense) and made team defense a strength.

Using pace as a barometer this season is an exercise in looking for a glass half empty narrative. It's pretty clear that nearly the entire roster, including McDavid, had issues scoring goals for about 50% of the season to date, and its also clear the pendulum has swung in the other direction over the last 10 games or so for the most part.

The 4th line C's goal scoring pace is completely irrelevant and I think it's pretty clear that Podkolzin isn't the long term 2LW (he looks like he'll be a pretty good depth piece if/when moved down). Henrique has been putting up points and playing well on both sides of the puck lately, and if Kane managed to score 24 and make an impact in the playoffs while pretty banged up, I would also say its safe to say that he's likely to be at least that when healthy.

Reaves adjusted his brain back into a reliable Top 4 dman. Should we send him a Thank You card to him? Rofl.
I thought the 2 games before his injury were the best 2 games Nurse had played in years (including that 3 point effort with the OTW the game before the Reaves hit). Nurse has been trending up basically all season.

Bob's take. My guess he's the new 7th while Dermott goes down since Bakersfield has a lack of LHD.

My only worry with this claim is that it pretty much guarantees that we will be running 7D on the roster. If we are going to stick to a 21 man roster like we have been, I would prefer 13F than 7D. I just wish Ryan wasn’t an everyday player at this point.

They'll likely waive Dermott to Bako, and they have more than enough players now right, so it just might be mean Janmark at 4C.

That makes me wonder if we are even going to try for cap accrual. I don't know if it is feasible to try anymore with how much time is left

Or that Dermott is going to be waived

Yeah I am curious what they do when everyone is healthy. But who knows with RV at this point.

Oh I am sure he is. I just mean I would rather run an extra forward, if we are stuck at 21 man roster.

Yeah not sure. Anything helps at the deadline. I think running less than 13F and 7D over a 82 game season isn’t a great plan though.

Agreed. Pace means little if the last 10 games is showing you what you want to see out of players. And moving forward it'll be how the team looks right before entering the playoffs.

Same could have been said last year more definitively. It never made sense to include Woody era numbers to look at the team. Post Knob is all that mattered. For this years "Woody era" it would be the Game 7 Cup Hangover. Any player who's experienced that will say it's one of the most heart wrenching, gut punching experiences you can go through as a player. No doubt the core of this team felt it, and it showed in their play.

Not really sure that Knoblauch loves Stetcher. I think coach/management want more size.

Ironically whenever I go on Reddit, I often see Stetcher with the team belt or hard hat or whatever. I think hes pretty well liked in the room.
Plus the strategy with Nurse seems to be switching between Stecher and Kulak as his partner.

Stecher is a really good dude. I haven't dealt with him personally, but my company has some business relationships with him and I've heard nothing but good things second hand.

Easy guy to cheer for, and you can't help but respect how hard he works every game. Probably the hardest working player on the team to be honest. Having said that, it's kind of too bad because I can't foresee a scenario where it would make sense to have him in the lineup in the playoffs. Tough to see a guy working that hard, but there just isn't really a way to reward him in the end due to nothing else than physical size.

Big fan of Stecher. IMO if he was 6’2 he’d be a top 4D with his play style, easily

If he had a little more offense to give at his size he would be as well

Here is Regula's first NHL goal if anyone is curious. Interesting to see 1) how deep in the zone he is at first trying to make something happen 2) how he's on the left side even in the bigs.

Good hard snapper that finds a way through. Now even more intrigued to see him and Bouch maybe reunited for a spell.

He's a serviceable 3rd pairing/#7D. He's definitely made the most of his abilities and is a solid guy to have when injuries hit.

I follow Boston pretty close and I remember him from his junior days being a solid prospect. My understanding was that he was big, decently skilled and had a good shot. Don’t remember him being physical and I think his skating was a question mark. Not sure where he’s at today but at 24 hr likely has some upside still.

Agreed and I think stetcher has played well, just the option for size is one worth having a look at.

In the end, I think they waive Dermott tomorrow

Assuming Regula is healthy and ready to go, he probably plays tomorrow, because they'll want that size against Minnesota

I just hope this doesn't mean Bowman thinks his job is done. We need a top 4 defender no matter how good Kulak and Nurse look together because of DEPTH. Injuries will occur and the worst place to not have depth is the playoffs.

I think we all remember how bad the defence was when Nurse got injured

According to my cousin who listens to that other Oilers show of Brenden Escott, Stauffer pretty much announced on it that Dermott will be waived and that Oilers maybe look at a LHD instead of a RHD before the deadline.

I haven’t had a chance to listen though
