Rumor: Rumors & Proposals Thread | With Klingberg in the Mix Who Are Our 7D After the Deadline?

If a goalie comes in here and doesn’t think they can take the goalie job away from Skinner, I don’t want them.
There’s thinking they can take it away and being given the opportunity to take it away. One of these things the goalie can control, the other he cannot. Would Knoblauch give him that chance? One would hope so but his reluctance to bench Bouchard when he coughs up the puck to Makar or give PP2 more time when PP1 is struggling makes me wonder.

This is just my opinion but I think Knob is tracking more than most in the org that Skinner isn’t a good goalie.

I think he would be delighted to get Gibson.

Taking Montenbault in the 4 nations team instead of Logan Thompson. Or Bennington instead of basically anyone… was crazy lol
Yeah those save percentages could be deceiving. Look at the team in getting of them as well.

And Skinner himself pads his save percentages lots of games after it's out is reach and he let in 3 goals on first 8 shots then still finishes game over .900

Dallas likely seeing their young guys getting offersheet if Seth Jones gets traded there.
Maybe, but they have a ton of older guys as UFAs next year. Basically the payroll upfront goes from $55M to $32M, the big guy they have to sign is Wyatt Johnson, so it might be do able.

I suspect they'll want to extend Benn and Duchene, but Benn won't cost $9.5M on the cap anymore.

They're going to be loading up. Could be an interesting watch.

The whole braintrust of the oilers, an entire NHL organization, thought changing Jack Campbell’s equipment was going to be the answer…
I mean, sincerely, the previous braintrust did, the current braintrust bought him the f*** out.

I'm concerned too, and they need to fire Schwartz, but this group views the goaltending differently. To what degree, impossible to say.

Oh I wasn’t comparing this group to the old group. Just that the other poster said he had a reliable NHL source that thinks Gibson is a slight upgrade at best. My point was NHL guys are wrong all the time. Especially about goaltending.

I’m hopeful that this management group makes goaltending a priority. It’s been an afterthought for too long. I think they are starting to show some progress.

Fair enough, sorry I misread that. And I agree about prioritizing the goaltending.

Im calling it now, if we don't add or fix the goalie situation we don't make it passed round 2 this year.

Looking like possible Colorado match up round 1. Then if we survive that I would bet money on 2nd round vs Vegas. I just don't think r goaltending will hold up to b2b offensive juggernaut like that. I also feel the Jets would be the 3rd round boss to over come for the cup final.

I posted that earlier. They will wait for that flame out to look at the position while wasting another year of McDrai

Why? Just play the hot goalie. It's not like Skinner is being paid to be a starter. Gibson mentoring and pushing Stew is what we need.
Remember how Campbell was blamed for Stuart’s bad start last year? “Stuart will be better because he now knows he’s the clear cut number 1”

I have a reliable NHL source who thinks slight upgrade at best.
None of the data points would agree with that

Look at the breakdown from the video a few pages back. Facing the same quality shots Gibson might actually have allowed more goals against than Stu this year. They have similar weaknesses
