Skinner would’ve went 4 goals on 13 shots and get pulled if he was in that scenario
Bouchard at 10 mill would be Nurse level overpaymentHow many games can Bouchard steal for us in a season vs Gibson?

So again I ask you why the sudden uptick this year after a slow decline? Returning to form? Or flash in the pan.Put up a .888 save % being on the worst team in the league giving up amongst the most high danger chances in the league vs our guy having .909 save % playing behind one the most defensive teams in the league giving up amongst the lowest high danger chances. Hmmm, wonder if hat would happen if the roles were reversed…
I'm all for an upgrade in net, I just question whether Gibson is it after being shit for the last 5 years. You like the sieve in our net better? The guy who has 1980 numbers against top teams and playoff teams?
The sieve who plays behind a MUCH better team.
Does this not comprehend with some of you?
The team that is in front? Is this EA NHL?
I swear anybody who keeps being a contrarian would be in the ocean off of the titanic in freezing water and turn down a life raft b/c it was not the color to their choosing
I can respect your opinion. But to what degree is your "shit" as a definition behinf an atrocious team?So again I ask you why the sudden uptick this year after a slow decline? Returning to form? Or flash in the pan.

But again, this is a sample size of about 20 games weighed against 5 years of steady decline. Is he playing like shit right now? No, not necessarily. His numbers are good. My question is sustainability. Is he finally completely healthy?I can respect your opinion. But to what degree is your "shit" as a definition behinf an atrocious team?
How does this guy have a 0.915 behind a team that is much much worse than us? Hey, I'll take his bounce back.
There are degrees to "shit"
How shit is Skinner behind this team? I would say he is lower rung
TBF, you question every move the Oilers make even if it legit helps the team. Your MO has always been to bitch and complain. So again I ask you why the sudden uptick this year after a slow decline? Returning to form? Or flash in the pan.

I find myself asking the same question when people keep suggesting the Ducks are retaining half of that contract. There's literally no example of a team eating that kind of money over term. You like the sieve in our net better? The guy who has 1980 numbers against top teams and playoff teams?

I question adding a goalie that's been bottom of the league for the past while. I cheered Jack Campbell (stupid) and cheered Mattias Ekholm (smart).TBF, you question every move the Oilers make even if it legit helps the team. Your MO has always been to bitch and complain.![]()
The Oilers can fit Gibson 6.4M if Stuart goes the other way. Might only cost Stuart+2nd at that point.I find myself asking the same question when people keep suggesting the Ducks are retaining half of that contract. There's literally no example of a team eating that kind of money over term.
The $6.25m Marleau deal cost the Leafs the 1st rounder that yielded Seth Jarvis that year. I can only imagine what Pat Verbeek would charge for any sort of retention for a player they have no reason to move.
Funny you call this kind of thinking 'contrarian', when this is actually what critical thinking is. I feel I know your thoughts on a lot of things just based on the way you speak.
That's not at all comparable firstly at no point in their careers were either Nuge or Eberle a top 3 forward in the league or anywhere close. This can happen for forwards too though, Eberle was getting paid 6 million dollars in 16-17 and had 0 goals for us in two playoff rounds, RNH stank it up too, both got outscored by (checks notes) Anton Slepyshev, who actually had more goals than both of them combined and he washed out of the NHL entirely 50 games later.
Lol gtfo of here I swear most of your posts are just meant to stir the pot. Name me one goalie that has returned a first a recent top ten pick and a decent replacement goalie..nobody would pay that even with 50 percent retention.Probably closer to 1st, Skinner, and Savoie. They don't need to get rid of him all that badly.
Fair question. But again, this is a sample size of about 20 games weighed against 5 years of steady decline. Is he playing like shit right now? No, not necessarily. His numbers are good. My question is sustainability. Is he finally completely healthy?
Nothing funnier than Rishaug crying on the radio for days wondering why we did it lollI question adding a goalie that's been bottom of the league for the past while. I cheered Jack Campbell (stupid) and cheered Mattias Ekholm (smart).
It's actually funny looking back at the Ekholm thread and seeing so many people upset with trading Barrie.
Just to put it in perspective…if you swapped goalies in R2 last spring, the Oilers sweep the Canucks. Svilos was that good. Yes he crashed back to earth and went through the surface layer but goaltending is the most important position especially come playoffs. How many games can Bouchard steal for us in a season vs Gibson?
Our first would be closer to a second. Anaheim has tons of cap space so they don't exactly need him off the books. Meanwhile the Oilers need to win a Stanley Cup.Lol gtfo of here I swear most of your posts are just meant to stir the pot. My posts can come across as emotional. That is never a good way to conduct business, etc in real life. You have to put emotion aside.I find myself asking the same question when people keep suggesting the Ducks are retaining half of that contract. We aren't talking about players being drafted and the ability to predict how they will turn out in 5-10 years in the future based on watching them as a teenager, we are talking about goalies who have been around for roughly a decade or more and you self appointed goalie gurus still can't predict how they will perform from one season to the next. You can say that about pretty much any player drafted after the first round
And this year that would essentially be their only move due to their cap restraints. The Oilers can fit Gibson 6.4M if Stuart goes the other way. Might only cost Stuart+2nd at that point.
John Gibson has been a starter and a star for so long. Jack Campbell had never been a legit starter or star. Very big differenceAnd this year that would essentially be their only move due to their cap restraints.
In the years following, if Gibson turned out to be a flop, they'd have another Jack Campbell on their hands with absolutely no fallback plan.
It's a goaltender. As much as people hope that the small sample is the sure thing, it's a position that's marred with risk.
Do defenseman steal games? How many games can Bouchard steal for us in a season vs Gibson?

I get liking what Johnston is, he sucks at hockey.Sooooo....
Gibson (some retention)
Dumoulin (some retention and re-sign an extra year)
Ross Johnston (13th warrior -in for 2 and out for 2)
