Which is an odd thing to say about the 1A-1B thing. He’d be going into the same role in Carolina with Andersen back.

I’d be leery dealing both goalies away. Having two new guys come in and learning the way the team plays and also recognizing individual tendencies can lead to a lot of goals against. Having one familiar guy to help him adapt might be the better way to go.

On the other hand, Gibson has been injury prone. If they traded Skinner back for him and if Gibson went down, Pickard and probably Rodrigue would not be ideal.

But I’m still trading for Gibson if I’m Bowman. Medium-high risk with potential maximum reward.

I don’t know what kind of relationship Perry & Gibson had when they were teammates but hopefully he’s been in his ear.

Not sure we can outcompete the Hurricanes honestly. They have a management group with a history of actually being serious about loading up(must be nice) and are more easily prepared than Edmonton to offer Gibson the prominent role.

Anyone who thinks the Oilers are going to abandon Skinner and go with Pickard as the backup has not been paying attention to how the goalies have been deployed.

What would be the risk? Injury? That can happen to any player. Oilers already have the worst goalie in the cap era to have started 20 games in the playoffs. The risk is you get a goalie to be worse than the worst?

There's probably more risk in extending Bouchard at 10M than trading Stuart for Gibson.
