12.5 avv and 5.5M deferred I can get on board with lollol who knows, I expect McDavid to get a significant amount deferred, as I expect him to stay in the organization after he's finished playing.

I really makes a ton of sense, imo. Now it will have to happen of course. lol12.5 avv and 5.5M deferred I can get on board with lol

Teams with internal cap is going to have a tough time competing when the cap is 120M
Hope your talking about StuIf the Oilers move Skinner, we would have roughly 8M to work with
as well as Mitch Marner and his dadAuston Matthews is going to take Toronto to the banks when his contract expires in 3 years
Holy shit. Well, we can afford to keep McDavid, Draisaitl, Bouchard, AND another 12M Winger if we really wanted LOL. This is great news!

Colorado isn’t a cap team. They have an internal budget. This according to the talking headsSo Colorado jumped to trade Rantanen too soon or they’re going to have an internal cap.
No it doesn’t. The total amount is the same and I believe there is an adjustment based on CPI at the deferral amount to account for the time value of money. It doesn’t make sense for Drai as he’s likely going back to Germany where they have a higher tax rate- but it doesn’t make sense for Connor since he will stay in Canada. If Connor moves back to Ontario- they have a higher tax rate than Alberta- so it wouldn’t work then.McDavid taking a deferral doesn't make sense, it would be the same as him just taking less money on a normal contract.
Many clubs will become budget teams.Winnipeg is in genuine trouble as a franchise with numbers like this. Ottawa might be as well.
apparently the Avs do have an internal budget. I can’t remember which talking head mentioned it- but they are operating with a budgetIt's gotta be because the team doesn't want anyone making more than Mackinnon(12.6M). Rantanen wants 14M and was shown the door.
Internal cap was never an issue before for the Avs. Not sure why it would be an issue now
This is very plausible- and I’m guessing what happens. Giving him longer term would obviously bring better value long term. He is only 24- plenty of playing time left.It would have been better if next year's number was $97, but otherwise this is pretty much what I expected.
It is also why I would talk to Bouchard about a shorter term deal. 2 years at $8M would be helpful. He could then be in a position for a very big deal in 27-28 when the Oilers would have a lot of cap space.
He isn't 20% better or more valuable to this team than Draisaitl. At 18M+, McDavid is going to wonder why he keeps crying and telling everyone to dig in in the lockerroom
I get an odd feeling that McDavid will sign for the same contract as Drai. Zero evidence- just a gut feeling….that also may just be gas…In an alternate timeline Draisaitl waits until after the cap goes up to sign both his long term contracts and earns about 25M more over his career.
Certainly possible, though I think he signs for .5M per year more.I get an odd feeling that McDavid will sign for the same contract as Drai. Zero evidence- just a gut feeling….that also may just be gas…
